Jeff Petry; trade between us and oilers

I think all of these guys would be an upgrade to our blue line, but at what cost? Myers would have to come relatively cheap, and Kindl go the other way for me to be at all interested. Yandle would definitely boost our blueline, but it would certainly be fairly steep so it depends on what had to go the other way. Would love to have him though. I was a huge fan of Bogosian a few years ago but he has fallen off a little. I'd still consider trading for him at the right price.

How about a totally different direction. Weiss, Anderson and Kindl for Hall. Get rid of extra parts to give prospects a chance and get a proven scorer. Heck if you want Petry just add lashoff and if necessary a late round pick

Taylor hall? Can't stand his face, and especially his lips. Also he's a huge ******.

Are you saying hell no in that you wouldn't do it? (because I obviously wouldn't either...) or that it wouldn't cost that much? Because I think it would cost that (or in that ballpark...)

hell no as in I wouldn't do it even if they took away my intelligent train of thought........Hall is decent but not worth Goose Mantha or Oullet you have two future top forwards and a legit Top D man no thanks

I've got to disagree with you there buddy. I don't think it would take that much. The last three players of that quality to get traded were Bobby Ryan, Jason Spezza, and Ryan Kesler, and none of them went for that kind of return. Actually, not even close to that really.

That's why it's very rare to see top end players traded, especially in their prime or before they even hit their prime. But are you saying you wouldn't trade any one of those guys straight up for Hall? I would trade all three of them individually for Hall but I definitely wouldn't trade that package either. Hall is a point per game player at the age of 22. The only player with that kind of potential is Mantha and even that is uncertain.

head on kip if anything I would throw Weiss and kindl toward them for hall only if Weiss is going to waive his NTC because his a bench warmer here

Kip, I hear ya, it is definitely a huge package and probably more than they'd be asking for but I don't think by much. I think Hall is and will be a better player than all 3 of those guys. The only one that I think is comparable is Spezza and he is much older as are the other two compared to Hall. Either way, it's a moot point because there is no way Hall is getting moved and especially not the Detroit.

Come on, you can't be serious with this Weiss and Kindl talk for Taylor Hall??? MacTavish would laugh hysterically and hang up and then call you back just to laugh some more...

Yeah, but none of those guys were traded to Detroit. Holland always seems to have to pay more. Based on rumors in the past with Nash, Bouewmeester, and now Myers (Mantha!!) other teams ask for the moon.

Of course they ask for first rate players, doesn't mean they expect to get them. That's negotiating. I have a hard time believing that GMs across the league ask for premium prices from Holland, but ask for considerably less from everyone else. Apart from anything else, it's a terrible negotiation strategy because it ensures you'll A) never trade with a team that's renowned for the quality of their prospects, and B) in the event that your player is actually worth a guy like Mantha, you're asking for less than he's worth from 28 other teams.

Holland going after Yandle and Bogosian? Same crap different year. Phoenix won't part with Yandle until he's 40 or he requests a trade out. Pipe dreams. Maybe that's why he never makes moves. He always tries for the exact same players every year. ;)

Either that or The Fourth Period is just recycling content year after year.

Copper and Blue website article about Petry being scratched.

Apparently this is pretty unusual. Trouble between Eakins and Petry? Fans seem to consider Petry their best defender, and it sounds like the "no training camp/not up to speed" argument doesn't hold a lot of water.

EDIT: We've also been linked to talks about Petry dating back to July, so there's apparently some history. But there are other teams in the mix, if trading him is even being considered by Edmonton. There's been no hints or confirmation about their willingness, just news that teams have inquired.

I don't want KH to touch any of the names being thrown out there. Not that I don't think any of them have value - I'm just worried about the assets being shipped off the other way. It makes sense to move a defensive prospect (since we're, in theory, going to have an abundance of NHL defenders in the near future) and a pick, but I imagine teams are looking for a quality forward as well. The ones teams are going to want (Mantha, Nyquist, Tatar) are the one I don't want to part with at all.

In the order that they're listed...Nope. Yep. Nope.

Id be interested in myers for the right price. I think hes made some big strides and is going to have a great year.

On the other hand, I dont think it makes a lot of sense for buffalo to trade him at this point and will probably want a lot more than id be willing to give up.
