true but yzerman did add a lot of depth to their defense imo and make that trade for ben bishop (who's been pretty great for them).

If bishop were healthy last playoff, they may have won a playoff series or more.

He has found some good you guys in the draft too.. a couple examples being drouin of course, who was not necessarily "found" by yzerman but, should be a great player.. he also drafted palat in the 7th round a few years back (59 points last year).

He's not 100% responsible for their recent years, sure. And it's too early to tell if they'll be a great team under Yzerman.. but I think he's doing a good job and has them trending in the right direction.

plus he fleeced holland...

ever wonder if he is selling everything....to his son and daughter? There has got to be some sort of tax that Chris and Denise will have to pay if they inherit everything. If they sell it them "on paper" they could possibly avoid Uncle Sam sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. Plus it would keep the Crack Head son from trying to take part of the inheritance from Chris and Denise...just food for thought.

Wouldn't Mr. I have to pay taxes then if he "sold it"?

Not sure how that works. Probably. I just find it hard to believe that they are selling anyhow. So, until the announcement comes via a Detroit source, then I think its just some talk show guy who is jealous his team aint worth jack in the league and he is one of those guys who gets off on knocking Detroit. IMO they can have Babcock.

I wouldn't mind if Draper became our GM after a while. So long as he proved good enough to take over. I am always on the fence with Holland and bash him a lot(right banned? ) but just when I think I cannot stand him anymore, he'll pull a rabbit out of his arse and reel me back in for a moment....until the next time he screws something up. But if Draper learned and showed that he had what it takes to make the hard decisions, I don't see why he wouldn't make a fine GM...

Hmm - how so if I may ask?

Personally - I've always seen him as a hard working - honest - polite kid from Canada.....In a way - a 'poor mans' Steve Yzerman.

With him in his early 40's - he's young enough to understand the players today, and old enough to have played under hard asses like Bowman - sorta the best of both worlds if ya ask me.

If he puts as much effort in becomming a GM as he did when he was a player - I have a feeling that he might be pretty good.

Sounds like he'd be a good coach. Or assistant.

How? I don't recall any trades between them.

He is how we got Quincey....for a first. They played the middle man with us and Colorado.

I heard a bit of Bob McCowan's show last night and tuned in right in the middle of him talking about the Wings being for sale. He was basically saying that he stands by what he said. It doesn't mean there will be a sale, just means that it is out there as a possibility. I see it as a trade rumour type deal. There are talks all the time about potential trades involving certain players....most of those talks do not result in an actual trade, but that doesn't mean there were no talks happening.

Anyway, Bob suggested that the story he reported was based on information from 2 independent (and very reliable) sources. He also suggested that he heard from a 3rd since he broke that story. So everyone can deny it all they want (he made specific reference to Holland).

My take....Bob doesn't make stuff up, he's one of the most connected and respected guys in the business. I've listened to him quite a bit and there are often times when he talks about hearing things, but doesn't mention them on air because they are just rumours. For him to put something out there, there's has to be more to it and more substantial sources claiming it. We're not talking about some dumbass reporter out there trying to make a name for himself.

That said...like most other things, I think there is truth behind this, but I don't think it will come to fruition.

If that happens it would be horrible:

Losing the best owner in all of sports nobody else in Detroit has that much money and passion for the game as Mr. I. I don#t want to go from a loaded owner who is also a huge fan to some business first penny pincher.

Also nobody in Detroit has enough money to buy the Wings, if the Isles are worth north of 400 million the Wings should be easily around 600 ALSO if the team is sold it needs to include a no relocation clause!

If Holland is in charge of the contract it will have a no move clause

Also if they won't relocate a team like Nashville or Phoenix/Arizona they sure as he'll won't relocate an original 6 team.
