slava voynov suspended after domestic violence arrest

You should feel fortunate that you're so incredibly naive to the horrors of domestic violence. So women can defend themselves, but you're saying the league is trying to punish "their man"? Because, you know, they need his money and that lifestyle he provides. Nothing like contradicting yourself.

Yeah, poor Ray Rice, his life was ruined. You do realize that TMZ probably saved Janay's life, right? At the very least, they prevented a life of abuse for her and probably their daughter. They guy spit in her face and knocked her out and stepped over her like she was a piece of trash. Then he dragged her out of the elevator like she had inconvenienced him. You're upset he was cut? I don't even know what to say. Let me guess, she was probably asking for it, eh?

Did you even read what I wrote?

I am certainly not naive about domestic violence. I am saying that the issues that go along with it are hard enough without the extras added by the media and the general public rushing in, as well as the financial part of it.

Simply having been a victim is hard enough. There is physical and mental healing. There are tough questions about what is best for the family (if there are children involved) and what is best for you.

In the Rice case, she stayed with him. She married him. They have also gone through counseling and he has stopped drinking, which they believe was what caused him to lose it on her. That is her decision and as long as it is working for them, then more power to her. I'm far less concerned about him than about her.

I've known couples that have managed to reconcile after time apart to go through their issues, usually involving alcohol or drugs, but not always. They've gone on to live happy and safe lives.

In most cases, the ending wasn't so idyllic. That is up to the people involved. If they are willing to work on it, let them do so in peace.

These are not easy changes, whether you go and start a new life or whether you stay and work on making it a positive environment. Adding the media attention only makes it that much harder.

That's what I'm trying to say here. I'm not defending the perpetrator; I'm hoping that the victim gets the privacy she deserves.

I've known a lot of people (not just women, but mostly women) who have been in abusive relationships and it was very hard on them to leave, but they did it. I've allowed some in my home when they had no place to stay. I've been the bactine-and-bandaid girl for those who chose to stay.

I've also had a couple of friends who were falsely accused by vindictive exes. It was hard for them as well. Even after they were exonerated, people still believed the worst.

I realize that it is a small percent, but that is why we have the legal system. Charges are brought and either proven or dis-proven. Then judgment is carried out. The judicial system is not perfect by any means, but barring clairvoyance on the part of the jury, it's about as good as it can get.

I'm not saying that abusers shouldn't be punished. They should. I just think that all of the media attention punishes the victim needlessly.

Have I made myself more clear?

according to the lawyer representing Voynov in the case, Voynov has not yeet been charged with anything pending police investigation. (I just checked - it's Wednesday afternoon - and no charge yet....)

“I think the league has gone extremely overboard,” Renetzky said. “In this country for the past 200 years, we’ve presumed people to be innocent until proven otherwise and the NHL has basically in this case said, ‘Well, OK, there was an allegation made, not even from the victim, not even from the woman. It’s just based on reports and you’re suspended indefinitely.’ That’s completely anti-American, I hate to say.

How that possible?! He is stiil free and out there?!

It it af****** shame so many crimes get tossed because a piece of evidence wasn't filed properly or ... wait it wasn't my line....

Come on, E_T did never imply to just put everyone in jail without any evidence or court hearing. Like you I disagree with him on the topic of exclusion of evidence but let's not try to poison this already sensitive topic with aggressive allegations like that.

Yeah, he's free. He posted bail.

The police are still investigating. Chill. For all we know they are digging so that they can add more charges on to the case.

You act like I'm saying to burn the guy on the stake. I was clearly annoyed this is happening again. I think if he is guilty he should be harshly punished, make an example of him. I just think like I said justice isn't alway served. I hope it is here though.

Dont take it personally, please. For the most part, I haven't been talking about your remarks. However, these remarks are in the same line with such of NHL officials.

LA Kings Defenseman Charged in Domestic Violence Case

A Los Angeles Kings defenseman was charged today in connection with an alleged attack on his wife, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Viatcheslav Leonidovich “Slava” Voynov (dob 1/16/90) faces one felony count of corporal injury to spouse with great bodily injury in case YA091588.

Arraignment is scheduled at 8:30 am on Dec. 1 in Department 4 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Torrance Branch.

During an argument at their Redondo Beach home on Oct. 19, Voynov caused his wife to suffer injuries to her eyebrow, cheek and neck, prosecutors said. The injuries were serious and required medical attention at a local hospital where the defendant was arrested, prosecutors added.

If convicted as charged, Voynov faces a possible maximum sentence of nine years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Obviously domestic violence is a serious issue, but not knowing the details of the case I can't really speak to that.

On the hockey side of things, even though the Kings have lost a player due to suspension, they don't get cap relief from it. It's a weird CBA detail. Voynov is suspended with pay during the investigation, so his salary still counts against the cap. They've even played a d-man short because they didn't have room to bring someone up.

He should just run to the KHL.

Yeah the cap situation is kind of BS. He shouldn't count against the cap of he isn't allowed to play.

I'm ok with the team being penalized a bit. But it shouldn't be his whole salary maybe 50% or less.

It'll get resolved soon though. If he actually faces prison time I gotta imagine he won't count against the cap then. But IMO it'll be more likely a deal is reached then it'll be interesting how long the NHL keeps him suspended for.

If I'm him I'm skipping town and going right to the KHL. Party with Putin.

Redondo Beach police officer: Voynov's wife had laceration over left eye, blood streaming, red marks on neck.

Officer: Voynov's wife required eight stitches to close wound above left eye.

Officer: "There's bruising, red marks, scratches on the victim's neck."

At Voynov's home, the officer noted blood all over bedroom, including covering comforter and a bloody handprint on floor.

Anyone still want to say that Voynov didn't do anything wrong and she just fell like he said?
