I was a little worried when before the season Ericsson mentioned his finger didn't feel 100% and it kept him from working out fully. It's definitely been reflected in his play so far.

If that's true why not let him workout and our him on ir? We need him to be 100 percent. Man feels like forever since the defense has been our strongest point :(

Really?

Out of offense, defense, and goaltending what's the strongest?

Offense is the weakest. So defense and goaltending? Well they're both strong imo

Nope, no potential in our defense at all... DeKeyser and Smith are what they're going to be. There's no way they're going mature or improve in any way, I mean 24/25 is usually when defenseman tap out on potential isn't it?... Not to mention we have a few stud prospects that if were in any other organization would be playing in the NHL right now... Also, Kronwall is a top 15-20 defenseman in the league and Howard has been playing lights out... You're right, completely mediocre with no room to improve...

The offense at least has potential, our defense and goalie is just utterly mediocre.

I hope to go that was sarcasm.

The defense and goaltending has more high end potential than the offense does.

I didn't get to see the game but I have to seriously question why people are jumping on the defense now, when they've been the strong point all season. Yes, they need to score more, but the whole team does. Unfortunately, I don't think players just magically gain the ability to stop hesitating when they shoot the puck, or to start thinking creatively with the puck. Babcock has created such a defense-focused team that every player who comes here has their offense reduced to unacceptable levels. There needs to be a middle ground or a balance between offense and defense. I don't like that we've become the Minnesota Wild of the late '00s.

I don't think it's a function of more workout time. Just that he couldn't hold the weights properly and workout at maximum level.

Then add to that not having full mobility in that finger and I can see why he's looked less than stellar so far. Given how shattered it sounds like his finger was, I just hope he gets back to 100% eventually.

I know how much that sucks but even with a bad finger you can still do the cardio, stamina stuff. Lifting and pushing weights on the other side totally sucks because the remaining fingers have to carry the added pressure and your grip is way of, even worse if someone does the punching ball exercise.

I like big Ericsson and hope he can find his firm soon. Maybe ease him in more, reduce his minutes and increase them for Danny boy?

I've said this in several threads. As messed up as his finger was, it probably still feels weird (at the very least) to be holding the stick, which could be impacting his play in ways we can't really see. When I shattered my wrist in 4 places (tip of the radius), it took a few months of PT to get it back to useable close to what I was before, and several more months to be comfortable, though playing keys and bass is less stressful than playing defense physically.
