its the 2nd today! For the sake of everyones safety, lets allow the inevitable 2 disallowed goals this month to happen before the murder spree

From the NHL.com game notes:

http://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/en/m_gamecenter?id=2014020164

The Red Wings had a potential game-winning goal by Henrik Zetterberg waved off with 2:32 left in overtime when officials ruled Johan Franzen interfered with Neuvirth in the crease. ...

"I was talking to the ref a couple times during the game and he said, he told me, 'I know he's standing in the crease so whenever they're going to score a goal I'm going to disallow it,'" Neuvirth said. "I was glad he actually did it."

The Red Wings did not argue the call.

"We were in the crease. Don't be in the crease," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "It was a disallowed goal."

So basically were back to when anytime you're skate touches the crease the goal will just be instantly waved off, great. Ya I know Franzen was too far in the crease and it was the right call, but what is this 3 or 4 no goal calls so far, and this is only the first good one?

A wise man once said, "even a broken clock is right twice a day."

(Actually, I have no idea where that comes from)

Glad to see that after last night we're still in second place in the division with a game in hand. So good to see them competing for the top spot once again. It seems like it's been so long since I've seen that, when it used to be expected every year. I think we can pass Montreal as I think we're a better team than them. Tampa seems to be a little hot, though.

Detroit was outplayed in the first 2 periods, they were soft on the puck, yada, yada. That's all fine and dandy - they lost. What's ridiculous is how the team is constantly being called for goalie interference based on reputation.

"I was talking to the ref a couple times during the game and he said, he told me, 'I know he's standing in the crease so whenever they're going to score a goal I'm going to disallow it,'" Neuvirth said. "I was glad he actually did it."

That's just wrong to me. A referee should be calling what he sees, not what he thinks he sees/he's going to see. "They were in the crease earlier, so when they score... nooope."

It's what happened with Glendening the other night - Detroit has a reputation for being in front of the net/in the crease. It's great that Babs and co. are at peace with it, but I've seen that goal or one similar counted several times this year. The reputation calls need to end. All I want is consistency throughout the league, but that's too much to ask for, apparently.

We're talking about the same guy right? Lord Zemongous?

Madmax2.jpg

His name is actually, Humungus -- Warrior of the Wasteland. The original Ayatollah of Rock and Roll-ah!! (No offense, Chris Jericho.)

...but Zergs also goes by Humungus.

I'm fine with an automatic call if the feet are in the paint. I've thought for years that if this were the criteria the paint should be shrunken down. Along with the whole trapezoid thing, NHL goalies are the professional crybabies of the entire sporting universe. Which I feel is the shame of hockey.

If we continue to play the way we have been playing we will win more often than not.

Pav and Z were just having fun with Buffalo during the 3rd and OT.

If we need to a better job of finishing our opportunities (Jurco) but I have faith that will happen.

Prediction: this is Babcock's year to win the Adams, and he will make $1B/yr on his next contract
