Straight up underwhelming and, by far, the worst game of the season. 1 point in 2 games versus Buffalo and Ottawa. What a putrid performance by the offense yet again. They made Ottawa look like the Blackhawks out there tonight.

Who? Franzen is injured. I suppose Tatar and Jurco could be better, but I wasn't expecting those players to put up 30 goals this year.

Well, they obviously lack goal-scorers in general, but I expected more from both Tatar and Jurco than they have provided so far. Helm has no goals, Sheahan has one, the 4th line plays a ton and has one goal combined, who knows what we are going to get from Franzen nightly.

Holland just continues to neglect serious needs. The Wings have an abundance of prospects as trade chips to address the lack of goal-scoring unless he's banking on Alfie as the solution (which knowing Holland is probably the case). Weiss can't even play hockey. So, now we're stuck with Holland's terrible track record of trades or hoping Mantha gets healthy and contributes in Detroit right away.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the defense and Howard so far this season. They have exceeded expectations, but this offense is abysmal.

I think it has more to do with the fact that it was two games against lower ranked teams, and we always lose those.

Talent up front? Who? Franzen? Jurco? These would barely make the 4th line on most teams.

say what you want about franzen hes good for 25-30 goals in a healthy season

you have at least 6-7 guys who can score 20 goals a season,

should be enough to score 3 goals a game

i mean it would be nice if the point could ever get a shot through they dont contribute much.

PP sucking doesnt help either. sure they move the puck around good but then they get tired of passing and take terrible percentage shots.

The defense is to blame. People don't realize how bad our transition game up ice is because it's been so garbage for so long. If we had better defensemen our forwards would score more goals. Plus, even terrible defensive teams get more scoring from their d men. I think Babs system is making our defense look good when it has been utter trash since Lidstrom left. Just look at our PP. Another huge, massive failure mostly from the defensive end.

This team lacks identity. We've got an organizational philosophy that values skill and puck possession, and a coach that wants to play a grinding, "heavy", crash and bang sort of game (as evidence, look how much our fourth line played tonight late in the game. He clearly prefers grinding, dump and chase hockey). Since the GM, roster, and drafting philosophy aren't going anywhere, Babs is going to have to make some adjustments to his game play to maximize the talent he's got. If he does, we'll come around. If he doesn't, we'll flounder.

For years I've heard over, and over, and over again that Babs is the best in the business in getting the most out of his players. Time to test that theory. This is not an untalented team. This is a team that's under performing. Let's see how good he really is at maximizing the talent he's got.

Also, Ken Holland, you listening? We need a second line center and another PP capable defenseman. Seriously. f***.

Our defense has actually been making great passes to leave the zone(smith dekeyser kronwall and Quincey) for the most part. Offense just SUCKS.

Im assuming you mean Kronner and really he isnt that strong of a PP point man. Average at best. He can setup some plays but when it comes time to shoot hes not that strong. You want your point man on a PP to be able to get shots on net in places they can be deflected or leave a nice rebound. Kronner misses high all the time which leaves no opportunity for deflections or second chances. Think back to Lids and how many time he would miss high. It was rare. If he missed it was to the left or right leaving a chance for a good bounce of the backboards or deflecting off someone and in.

Wow people are really freaking out. We played like absolute s*** the last 2 games and almost beat both teams. Tatar/Jurco just need to adjust, hell it seems as though you can see those 2 slowly emerging from their slumps. Calm down everyone
