Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

But I guess you never know, I wouldn't think Seguin would have gone for as little as he did, but he did.

...but Seguin was a "problem" for Boston. ...and yet somehow Lucic isn't a problem and shouldn't be traded.

With the "uncoachable" comments and Hall's reduced production, I don't think it would cost as much to get him. Tatar, Kindl and a D prospect not Sproul or Ouellet might be enough. I don't know if I want Peaches Jr. either. Detroit has 3 second pair D right now, I'm not sure why they need another. I'd rather move Kindl without bringing an NHL d-man back to make room for Ouellet.

Re: Hall,

Again: "Where there's smoke, there's Dreger."

(...I may or may not be "Taro Tsujimoto"...)

Even if they do trade Hall (HUGELY unlikely), it won't be to Detroit. I'm way more interested in Arizona's situation. Actually, I could see the Oilers being interested in Hanzal and Ekman-Larsson...

Friedman: "In the right situation, T.J. Oshie is available"

But then, I'm a big believer in "In the right situation, anyone is available."

I can see it now, Datsyuk and Oshie shooting one and two in the shootout. Getting outscored 3-2 would never look so satisfying lol.

I actually like Keith Jones as an NBC guy because he doesn't really have a shtick. He just calls it like it is. Dreger, on the other hand, will go on TSN radio and say his sense is that Babcock wants to sign in Toronto, because reasons. But don't quote him on that, because he admittedly doesn't know what Mike Babcock is thinking, so speculating about Babcock's true motives is a fool's errand. But his sense is Toronto is at the top of Babcock's list. But, to be clear, he's not saying Babcock has a list. Admittedly, he doesn't know if Babcock has a list, so speculating about his true preferences is a fool's errand. But certainly you have to ask: If Babcock wants to stay in Detroit, why hasn't he re-signed? It's a valid question. But, we just don't know at this point. So, long story short: Babcock's going to Toronto. (Maybe.)

I've heard that Hall walks into bars in Edmonton and literally says "Who's gonna F*** me tonight???"

Forgot where I heard this, heard it like a year ago, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's true. He's probably the biggest star in the entire city.

I do this at Walmart.

Sometimes I leave alone :(

I still like Iiro Pakarinen. I don't think I've given him the full pump-the-tires treatment yet, and now would seem as good a time as any.

Hockey's Future

Pakarinen plays like a demon in tight spots, and his stick handling ability and skating agility compares favorably to any of the top young players in Finland. Rather than focus on artistic playmaking, however, Pakarinen prefers the physical elements of the game. Offensively, he does have a hard, accurate shot which suggests he could be a dangerous sniper. While his physical style explains his pedestrian offensive numbers, that abrasiveness has gained him both attention and notoriety from scouts. As coaches and scouts will tell you, it's easier to tone down a player who is too aggressive than it is to try and instill competitiveness.

Eliteprospects

A large winger shooting from his right. An energetic player with good skating and a nice frame. Possesses a good sharp, wrist shot and is a solid finisher. A hard worker and versatile player who can also play as a defenceman. (Matias Strozyk, 2012)

Edmonton Journal (Jonathan Willis)

It was a little surprising how quickly in training camp Iiro Pakarinen was dispatched to the minors. He was demoted on September 29, alongside some depth AHL’ers (Curtis Hamilton and Kale Kessy), a guy without an NHL contract (Jason Williams) [ZOMG] and with the extremely disappointing Martin Gernat. Travis Ewanyk and Mitch Moroz lasted longer.

Now, after five goals, eight points and 23 shots in just seven games in the minors Pakarinen is back; not only back but playing opposite David Perron on Mark Arcobello’s line. Listed at 6’1”, 215 pounds, Pakarinen brings not only scoring but also a reputation for responsible two-way play and a willingness to play with a physical edge (though he’s managed to go unpenalized so far this season).

Oklahoma City Barons coach Todd Nelson talked to 630 CHED’s Bob Stauffer on Monday about the player and raved about both his play and his professionalism:

He’s probably been our most complete player and most consistent player throughout the eight games that we’ve played. I think it’s just a matter of time [before he gets an NHL shot], because he plays both ends very well, he has a great shot, he’s a big strong guy and he skates very well. He’s pretty complete for this level… He plays both [left and right wing]. It doesn’t matter if it’s left or right side he feels comfortable in both positions. The one thing about Pakarinen that the coaching staff here has been impressed with is his maturity and how he carries himself for a young guy. He’s a consummate professional, he works hard in the gym and works hard in practice. I think just the way that he carries himself is pretty impressive.

If you do that at Walmart, going home alone is the best you can hope for. Going home with a walmarter is way worse.

Scoring still a problem.

If only the Red Wings had someone playing in Grand Rapids who was 2nd in the AHL in goals scored and 4th in points.

And, if only he was a righty.

That would be awesome.

Somebody kick his tires for ripeness. (Mixing metaphors. SORRY!)

Of the multitude of Centers that we have, which one is the most likely to be traded? Which has the greatest return value? Which the least?

Not counting Franzen, as he is typically not a center.

Including Weiss, Helm, and Andersson -- as they are known as centers who happen to be playing wing.

Not including Z or Dats -- as they're obviously the most valuable to the team; would garner the most return, but will never be traded.

Sheahan: (Hopefully) not likely to be traded, highest trade value

(Youth + Two-Way-Play + Future Potential. He's a keeper. Even if he ends up just being a 3C and not a 2C)

Weiss: Not easily trade-able, and still questionable value -- too early to tell whether any other team values him, as his health remains a question mark.

(I think he could be traded and get good return, but the fact he's not getting a lot of ice time in Detroit, despite his offensive capabilities is a head-scratcher. Is he getting protected minutes? Does Babcock not trust him? Does Weiss have a future with this team?)

Helm: Most likely to be traded, not huge trade value, but he is a solid third line center with top-6 winger capabilities. (He's the C, I'd trade first.)

Glendenning: Not likely to be traded, not a lot of trade value (wouldn't want him to be traded)

Andersson: Most likely traded solely as an add on, not a lot of trade value (would rather he be traded than waived -- he's the current roster's Emdog)

I agree that Sheahan should not be traded, and he is the sole reason Helm has become tradable. BUT, it was just two or three season's ago that every other GM was asking for Helm in return, the same way they are asking for Sheahan now. Now, Helm's value has declined and we could've gotten a ton more for him before. I am not saying Sheahan is going to decline in value as Helm has, but it may be time for Holland to get full value for a player rather than wait for the next "Sheahan" to come up to make Sheahan the next "Helm" and then all the GM's want the new guy...

That being said, I think everyone on here knows I do believe Sheahan to be on a very short "untouchable" list or just right outside the "untouchable" bubble. I do agree someone has to be moved if we are going to try to improve our forwards by the deadline.

Weiss, I think, would have a hard time waiving his NMC in order to be traded. IF he spends more and more time on the 4th line maybe he would be more apt to waiving it, but I don't think he would waive it to go to a place like Phoenix, Edmonton or New Jersey...

I believe Andersson and Glenny have very little trade value, so we will have them for a long time. Which isn't a bad thing, Glenny seems perfectly happy and is a great 4th line center and Andersson is a great #13/#14 roster player and won't cost too much more than his current salary to retain...

Which brings us back to Sheahan being the current (tradable) roster player with the most value. Again, I do not want to see Sheahan traded, but like I mentioned, Holland may have to move him while 29 other GM's are asking about him, before he is no longer coveted.
