Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Hardy Harr Harr, the old eye ball test. Hilarious. Fact is, you can see things you would never see on any stat sheet just by watching the games. What a concept... I would trust the eye ball test over any amount of stats you can throw at me any day...

If you truly believed Glendening was on the cusp of an offensive breakout, I wouldn't say that you are "WRONG" and try to do everything I could to "prove" that you were wrong... I could care less if you agree with me, but you always have to be "right"... It's quite funny actually.

There is no one in their right mind that would say that there is no way that Smith would have as many or more points than either Ericsson or Quincey if he were in their situations... He absolutely would. He played great, much better than Ericsson and Quincey while being paired with Kronwall and DeKeyser. So why the hell would you think that he wouldn't keep up that same great play over time?

I'm not sure if you caught that first period or if you're waiting to review the stat sheet after the game, but despite the entire team playing like s***, Smith was one of the better defenders in that period, along with DeKeyser. Ericsson got corkscrewed into the ice a couple times and Quincey made a great drop pass to Malkin in the defensive zone. If that were Smith making those plays, he would be crucified...

Yeah, except none of us are scouts, and even they are wrong probably 40% of the time. I notice things like Datsyuk got mad dangles, Helm is wicked fast, Glendening hits a good amount. I don't notice things like "that guy who isn't playing a lot would play better if he played mores more and got more minutes on the PP (everyone scores more with more PP time)" That's what stats are for.

Take this with a grain of salt because it's Malik quoting "someone" who is quoting Bob MacKenzie but apparently Murray wanted Larkin AND Mantha for Myers.

http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/report-sabres-wanted-larkin-and-mantha-for-myers

Judging by what he got, I have a hard time believing that.... but if true, he's out of his mind (which seems very possible).

the bottom of that link says:

the Sabres requested either Dylan Larkin or Anthony Mantha in return, Bob McKenzie reported on NBC on Wednesday.

which is a lot more believable, IMO.

either way, I'm glad kenny didn't give up a prized prospect for myers' potential....

I don't believe this for a single second. It seem eerily familiar to the time that "Bob McKenzie" reported that Holland offered Nyquist AND Tatar for Jay Bouwmeester. Which was, and is, total bulls***.

I always thought that McGuire reported that. Or was McGuire the one who claimed that Detroit's offer for Nash blew the Ranger's offer out of the water.

So much hearsay and conjecture.

Holland has been griping about the prices of players in trades for years now... and has made exactly ZERO trades that have involved an active roster player or high impact prospect since when? ...and yet we're to believe that he was willing to part with Larkin AND Mantha for Tyler Myers?

...or Tatar AND Nyquist for Jay Bouwmeester? ...or considering these outlandish trades. HA.

Holland detractors need to try harder.

Agreed.

That bottom portion was added to the article after I posted the original link. I just want to be clear so it doesn't look like I ignored that part in the hopes of creating more drama or something.

McGuire reported the Nash thing if I recall correctly. And it was speculated that it included Filppula. But nothing explicit ever came out. But there was a rumor that actually mentioned Nyquist and Tatar, and if I'm remembering right, Bob McKenzie was the originator of that one.

Edit: Here's the source of the Bouwmeester thing. Just like this newest Meyers rumor, it's someone saying that someone else said something. Or, in other words, it's bulls***.

I don't think anyone is saying he was willing to make the deal. What is being said is that Murray wanted one or Larkin or Mantha and that Holland said no. It's all speculation anyway, but I thought the logistics of this hypothetical scenario were pretty clear.

You're right, but it does sort of insinuate that Holland was "thinking about it" instead of laughing him off the phone.

Yeah, I got that impression too.

But I barely believe that this deal was even in place. So I'm certainly not going to trust this source's description of Holland's reaction/handling of the offer. Plus, as if they're going to report that Holland "laughed" Murray off the phone. As if he'd even do that. He's a professional, not a 12 year old or a member of LGWs.

I would laugh that offer off the phone...because I'm both.

A quick perusal of Bob McKenzie's twitter yields no mention of any of this. It's just some podcast dummy making things up. He's also a flagrantly partisan Wings fan. When the guy attributes things to McKenzie elsewhere on his twitter, he links it to McKenzie's actually twitter account. No link this time, despite the attribution. So apparently we're supposed to believe this yayhoo actually spoke to Bob Mckenzie in person, or via phone, and got this information. It's the equivalent of George Malik claiming Bob McKenzie told him some information about a trade.

Lol.

Woah guys...this is clearly detracting from the deep Brendan Smith conversation...

My bad. If I'd known you were so committed to the topic I would have kept talking about it, so that you wouldn't have to bring it up in a snarky post a day later.

Aaaaaaaand Bob McKenzie denies the rumor after three consecutive idiots (Bryan Yates, Clark Rasmussen, and George Malik) ran with the rumor as if it were true. Malik even going as far as to vouch for the credibility of Yakes, who originated the rumor.

Cautionary Lesson LGW: Next time you find yourself about to post "Holland didn't land player X because the reported asking price was...," remember, those "reported asking prices" are almost always wrong, inflated, and made up by amateur jackasses (bloggers/podcasters).

I'd like to see the denial... otherwise, I'm going to go with the word of the three idiots.
