Even though his best playing years are behind him; I could see him as part of the Wings organization down the road. Maybe the reporter found out about it from somewhere else, but Cleary clearly didn't mind talking about it. Not that there's anything wrong with that. While these stories are always great and I love how charitable the Wings seem to be, I try and keep it "just business". From everyone I've seen post people respect cleary for literally giving WVERYTHING he has. But most realize it's time for him to move on. If I go back to the thread of when he was signed, I guarantee you that is not the case. I would post examples, but I don't want to turn this into what I hate. Again because we feel it's time for him to move on....unless Babcock uses him like he is. 13th or 14th forward is the way he should be used. In the meanwhile, he brings veteran presence to the locker room, and intangibles like heart and desire. He's contributing. I didn't see how a 1 year $1.5 Million deal for a guy who's done a lot for the organization was a bad move. It's better for Cleary to be a healthy scratch then a young player who can get playing time in Grand Rapids. It allows Cleary to leave the game with his head held high, instead of being kicked to the curb.
