Doggone it Danny Cleary

I don't hate Cleary but don't see him keeping his spot on the team after all the injuries heal. But when he does things like this makes me feel better about him wearing the wheel a bit longer.

Cleary was interviewed for the story and discussed it. Maybe the reporter found out about it from somewhere else, but Cleary clearly didn't mind talking about it. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

While these stories are always great and I love how charitable the Wings seem to be, I try and keep it "just business". I gotta be honest, I'd still rather have an ******* who can play the game than a nice guy who can't.

Its nice to have a thread where Cleary isn't being treated like a pile of garbage.

It's awesome when you hear about these guys doing things like this........good guy!

I don't think that's ever the case. From everyone I've seen post people respect cleary for literally giving WVERYTHING he has. But most realize it's time for him to move on.

That still doesn't change the things that he has done for the team city or fans.

If I go back to the thread of when he was signed, I guarantee you that is not the case. I would post examples, but I don't want to turn this into what I hate.

Again because we feel it's time for him to move on....unless Babcock uses him like he is. 13th or 14th forward is the way he should be used. He will stay healthier and actually able to contribute in a positive way.

Right, there was a lot of people upset when Cleary was signed. I didn't see how a 1 year $1.5 Million deal for a guy who's done a lot for the organization was a bad move. It's better for Cleary to be a healthy scratch then a young player who can get playing time in Grand Rapids. It allows Cleary to leave the game with his head held high, instead of being kicked to the curb. Also it shows the Red Wings are a classy organization.
