TSN has confirmed that no coaching change are imminent. The Oilers have lost 11 straight games after dropping a 3-2 overtime decision to the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday. They have not won a game since beating the New York Rangers on Nov. 9, and have earned only four points since. At 6-15-5, the Oilers are dead last overall in the NHL with 17 points. I always thought Eakins would be an upcoming great coach but after seeing and watching his antics in Edmonton I'm not so sure anymore. I mean he removed pictures from Gretzky ... from the locker room and talks a big game but doesn't deliver Eakins seems to be very arrogant too. As for the presser one of 3 things needs to happen: 1. Lowe stepping down 2. MacTavish stepping 3. Eakins being fired Since I highly doubt we are going to see a major trade....the Oilers wouldn't be stupid enough to call a presser just to tell everyone the braintrusts thought about the season so far...or would they ? And this losing - whoever's side you're on - is gonna bite the Oilers in the ass for a few seasons if this nonsense continues. He gets into it with the media - fine. Nothing new there. but he also gets into with the players - in front of the fans and he isn't very respecting of the Oilers history, or at least that's what they're saying out west. Whether or not this is Eakins fault, he's gotta go. And it's only making hockey fans more confused as to why one the greatest franchises is allowing this crap to continue. The kids looked confused most nights out there. Who is their leader, because Eakins has lost them already. 2 seasons and he's proven he can;t cut it. A team needs more than just the superstar (Hall) players, Gazdic is one of a kind the Oilers could need more of that mentality, he never quits and works his butt off although he only makes a fringe of what RNH, Eberle and the other superstars are getting. He needed a few years in the minors, I think Edmonton ruined him. He had the potential to be a superstar, but they didn't develop him. They baptized him by fire and he got burned.
