Does this not seem like a bit much for Petry? I mean there HAS to be better D men available at the deadline.

Here's your current UFA Rental List from CapGeek

(they remove any players that are likely staying with their teams because they're going to be in the playoffs)

1. Zidlicky

2. Sekera

3. Petry

...so no, not really.

Well, this certainly has to be rock bottom for the Oilers.

You would think... but I guess they're not desperate enough to make any moves.

Why when you can tank for mcdavid? Who needs defense and goaltending anyway?

What is the big deal with Petry ? Why would someone give up a draft pick to get this guy. He is one of the worst d man on the worst team. The only upside is that he is a right handed shooter and looks like DeKeyser. Only if can be swapped with Kindl straight up.

Who's suggesting giving the Oilers a draft pick? Besides, they wouldn't know what to do with it anyway...

Ya they would. Draft a forward. Immediately bring him into the nhl, ruin his career.

In that I meant, they wouldn't know how to productively use another overall #1 draft pick.

UNLESS: Daryl Katz removes his head from his ass and fires Kevin Lowe and MacT.

New President and GM are hired and they promptly turn over most of the roster including former "untouchables" and some of their most recent draft picks that they've already "ruined."

From there, send anyone they can... ANY PLAYER that hasn't accumulated too many games in the NHL, back down to the minors and let them develop properly.

It's begun! Fraser claimed! THEY'RE PLAYOFF BOUND BABY

That will fix their defense....

A team rarely claims a guy off waivers anymore. It's a numbers game and you usually need a contract going the other way.

So they are retaining some of his salary? I don't get what the benefit is otherwise.

Why do they need any more forwards anyway? Unless they're preparing to unload some...

They've done that so they finally have someone to replace Draisaitl and now they can send him down which of course is the smart thing to do. Kid will be a good player some day he just isn't ready yet.

well i get that, leon shouldnt sniff the nhl for at least a year or two. hes just a boy. what i dont get is why they didnt let him play in the world juniors and then just send him down a week later.

Hrm, don't know what to think of this trade to be honest. Perron could be a very good forward, but I wouldn't say he is top 6 by any stretch. Still, with Comeau and Kunitz missing a lot of time due to injury, they really needed some depth. The Oilers are stockpiling draft picks again. The rest of the league should not be concerned.

I'd wanted Perron. Right shot, scored 30 goals last year on a godawful team, can play on a scoring line or a checking line, plays a gritty game, in the prime years of his career, a year left on his deal, good cap hit, hungry to win - BUT THERE'S NO HOCKEY STORE!!!11

Knew he'd end up with the Pens, though.

Archabello (spelling) just scored for Nashville (who are beating up the Kings 5-1)

See what a change of scenery can do for anyone?

Petry will turn into a point machine if he gets traded here to Detroit.
