number9 3,297 Report post Posted December 29, 2014 Well, this certainly has to be rock bottom for the Oilers. I feel like I say this every year. And yet when I think about the wings I can't help but say TANK IT
e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Does this not seem like a bit much for Petry? I mean there HAS to be better D men available at the deadline. Here's your current UFA Rental List from CapGeek (they remove any players that are likely staying with their teams because they're going to be in the playoffs) 1. Zidlicky 2. Sekera 3. Petry ...so no, not really. Well, this certainly has to be rock bottom for the Oilers. You would think... but I guess they're not desperate enough to make any moves. arag 308 Report post Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) What is the big deal with Petry ? Why would someone give up a draft pick to get this guy. He is one of the worst d man on the worst team. The only upside is that he is a right handed shooter and looks like DeKeyser. Only if can be swapped with Kindl straight up. Besides, they wouldn't know what to do with it anyway... 1 arag reacted to this
Euro_Twins 4,476 Report post Posted December 29, 2014 Who's suggesting giving the Oilers a draft pick? Besides, they wouldn't know what to do with it anyway... Ya they would. Draft a forward. Immediately bring him into the nhl, ruin his career. 1 e_prime reacted to this

In that I meant, they wouldn't know how to productively use another overall #1 draft pick. UNLESS: Daryl Katz removes his head from his ass and fires Kevin Lowe and MacT. New President and GM are hired and they promptly turn over most of the roster including former "untouchables" and some of their most recent draft picks that they've already "ruined." From there, send anyone they can... ANY PLAYER that hasn't accumulated too many games in the NHL, back down to the minors and let them develop properly. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/oilers-claim-fraser-off-waivers-from-bruins/ It's begun! frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted December 29, 2014 This is actually a good move now they can send Draisaitl down and get him away from that toxic culture
Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 I thought Derek Roy was placed on waivers? A team rarely claims a guy off waivers anymore. It's a numbers game and you usually need a contract going the other way.

So they are retaining some of his salary? I don't get what the benefit is otherwise. Why do they need any more forwards anyway? Unless they're preparing to unload some... frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 there ya go oilers, trade away your best two way forward. They've done that so they finally have someone to replace Draisaitl and now they can send him down which of course is the smart thing to do. Kid will be a good player some day he just isn't ready yet.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 Would love to see McDavid or Eichel pull a Lindros and refuse to go to Edmonton. That's probably what it would take for that club to finally realize they have to clean house.
Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 Its a numbers game in terms to the roster, not financially. He's obviously not part of the plans past this year. Arcobello is a borderline NHLer.

frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted January 2, 2015 All aboard the tank-train captain MacTavish will take care of every passenger. Now it will be interesting to see how Buffalo, Carolina and New Jersey are replying
Nightfall 871 Report post Posted January 2, 2015 Hrm, don't know what to think of this trade to be honest. Perron could be a very good forward, but I wouldn't say he is top 6 by any stretch. Still, with Comeau and Kunitz missing a lot of time due to injury, they really needed some depth. The Oilers are stockpiling draft picks again. The rest of the league should not be concerned. number9 3,297 Report post Posted January 2, 2015 Great trade for the Oilers. It is considering the low prices at the deadline last year.
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted January 2, 2015 I'd wanted Perron. Right shot, scored 30 goals last year on a godawful team, can play on a scoring line or a checking line, plays a gritty game, in the prime years of his career, a year left on his deal, good cap hit, hungry to win - BUT THERE'S NO HOCKEY STORE!!!11 Knew he'd end up with the Pens, though. e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted January 3, 2015 Archabello (spelling) just scored for Nashville (who are beating up the Kings 5-1) See what a change of scenery can do for anyone? Petry will turn into a point machine if he gets traded here to Detroit.
