Smite 399 Report post Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) The Ottawa Senators have fired head coach Paul MacLean. The club confirmed the move Monday morning via Twitter. Ottawa has posted an 11-11-5 record through 27 games thus far in 2013-14, putting them seventh in the Atlantic Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference standings. IMO, that's exactly where they should be, give or take. I don't know if there's any coach that's available that could do more with that team. Regardless, unless they hire Lanny MacDonald, fan dude there behind the bench/glass is going to have to shave now. Their payroll is one of the lowest in the whole league, their best defender is playing like a fourth forward Melynk won't spend to the cap tough situation to be in. They've got an average team (at best). How is that the coach's fault? They've got like 4 players who aren't completely outclassed in every single game they play. I would almost say that Dallas Eakins just felt someone walk on his grave, but would MacLean want to go from a poorly constructed team in Ottawa to the absolute ****show they have in Edmonton? They have plenty of tough guys, actually. McGrattan does make everyone around him better, though. Imagine how physical and aggressive Franzen would play with that beast in the lineup. That's well established around here. You're the one who loves fighting, but can't face up to the fact that Colton Orr consistently mashed McGrattan's face whenever they fought. Which is precisely why I bring it up. I have a hard time figuring why you enjoy fighting so much, but then idolize the second best fighter of his era.
