I have this theory that you post pictures to cheer us up when we lose, and to lift our spirits higher when we win.

I do hate me some biebs.

Not as much as I hate losing to the effin leAFS AFTER DOMINATING THE DAMNN GAME!!!!!!

But.

Still.

You know.

We really did play a good game.

Minus most if the third.

Like we looked sooooo damn dominant during the second.

And like garbage in the third.

I just don't get i.t.

Some shifts we looked like we were 3rd generation skating trash monsters, born from trash eating trash that mated with other trash that was flavored with trash.

I surrrriously think they should sit a player or two and let him just watch the game..

Give em the Jurco treatment.

Howard falls to 0-4 in shootouts this season, making just three saves on 10 shots in skills competition

You would post that, of course. Funny though how quiet the Howard bashing club is about his play for 60 minutes of regulation in most games this season. The Wings should have scored more than one goal against a backup goalie if they wanted to avoid falling in a shootout.

Not to mention, none of the Wings shooters have any clue how to put the puck on or in the net during the skills competition either.

His 60 minute play (which has been great for the most part) isn't really relevant to his shootout stats, which are undeniably bad this season. We can't expect to score 4 every game, we've got to find a way to win some of these shootouts too. That's obviously on both the players and the shooters, but honestly there's no way our shooters are going to score in the skills competition at the same clip other teams are scoring on Howard. I'd be more upset at our lack of goal scoring that game if our goal scoring had actually been a problem lately, but it really hasn't. It definitely wasn't for lack of trying that game either, like I said some nights they're just not going to go in despite a huge number or chances.

I feel slightly to blame.

During everyone of our four game and three game win streaks I've drank at least five beers and eaten speedway nachos...

I don't remember if I ate nachos in the loss before this, but I know I didn't tonight.

And I distinctly remember only having one beer then, and I only had three tonight before I switched it up to Jim beam.

..

Its my fault.

I didn't drink nearly enough beers, and my nacho intake was nonexistent.

Good job NHL shootouts are the absolute worst thing in all of pro sports except for maybe the excessive use of tobacco in the MLB.

Because if they weren’t, I’d be pretty concerned about our goaltending.

Has anyone actually ever switched goaltenders for the shootout?

I remember an instance where they did when the shootout was still new. Forgot who did it but I want to say leafs with Cujo or something when he was at the end of his career..

Didn't work out and the coach got flacked big time.

However, if it worked, coach would have won the adams

Babs to Mule: It looks like you might have really messed up your groin.

Mule to Babs: Umm I did? I am feeling fine.

Babs to Mule: No, you messed that groin up really bad so we are going to have to put you on LTIR.

Mule to Babs: Umm, OK. But I thought I was already on LTIR

People can dream, right?

Howard's shootout mediocrity aside, I really would be thrilled to have the shootout out of the game, or at least give the 4 on 4 followed by 3 on 3 followed by shootout option a try. It's just such an irritating way to lose hard fought games, and the thrill of the wins is generally pretty cheap.

Totally agree. It's entertaining to an extent but I just don't feel like it belongs.

The Leafs are only five points behind us, with a game in hand. And, as we all know, our next two games are against the dreaded Panthers and the Leafs.

We can't keep leaving points on the table in the shootout. And we can't spring our forwards for 800 breakaways in one night and not score on a single one of them. The team needs to take this seriously and really work on it during practices.

Reimer played good but remember at least 25-30 of the shots were WEEEEAK.

I'm just happy to see some shots in net. 40+ is awesome!!!

But it might be worth toning it back to like 30+ for better quality shots. We still don't utilize the one timer enough...

I thought this was one of the best games we played. In a playoffs series if we play like that against the leafs they cannot compete with us and I truly believe we are a much better team than they are. The shootout sucks and jimmy sucks at the shootout but our forwards also suck at scoring on breakaways. They are trying too hard gotta keep it simple like pav did last night.

The way the wings played reminded me of 2007-2009 teams we had. When we lost, a lot of the time we actually outplayed the other team and deserved the win. I love this years team and am not worried at all.

3 on 3, really?? I dont get this obsession to decide every single regulation game. I said many many years ago before the introduction of shootouts that it was a terrible idea. They had already tried it in Sweden and abandoned it. 5 on 5, 4 on 4 and now 3 on 3? Why not make it 1 on 1 because that is where we are headed. Or, here is an idea, maybe we could just leave it a tie? Maybe teams wouldnt sit back and just wait to secure a loser point for half a period...

yes, the team seemed so intent to shoot high glove side that they forgot there is a lot more net to aim at elsewhere. They even went backhand rather than forehand to get it up there.

Has anyone actually ever switched goaltenders for the shootout?

Coach Gordon Bombay once swapped backup Julie "The Cat" Gaffney with starter Greg Goldberg because her quick glove hand provided an edge against Team Iceland sniper Gunnar Stahl, who favored shooting high glove in the shootout.

Bombay did. He put Julie "The Cat" Gaffney in for Goldberg when Gunnar was shooting for Iceland. :hehe:

Damn, that's what I get for not reading all the way to the end. I saw that post and thought for sure I'd be the first to comment lol.

Well played.
