Another loser point for the losers. Wings are sorry, there's really nothing more to it. They overachieved big time up until a week ago and squeaked out a few lucky wins as well. In my opinion, Columbus when healthy are better than the Wings. They would give a team a way harder time in the playoffs than the Wings would. You knew this was going to be a loss after the first period, at least I knew it was going to be. Z's absolutely done, this guy will never be what he was, or even close. Columbus won their 7th straight, no way in hell are the Wings capable of 7 in a row.

lol

I agree. " Exterminate all the brutes!"

This is our first real losing streak of the season. You don't go through a season without ever losing three or four in a row. Look at the Bolts - they'd lost, what, four of their last five going into tonight? Are we gonna say they're pretenders?

We'll be ok.

I think the Bolts are pretenders, so yes.

Babcock is a great coach but he doesn't have a clue about the SO. Really, Zetterberg? He hasn't scored in a month - except for one empty net goal. Why not let Tatar or even Howard take that shot? Can imagine Hoard streaking in on his fellow goalie in complete Goalie gear, pads, mask, and stick, and doing a Datsyukian deke to score over the outstretched glove.

Just plain awful calls from the bench during the Shoot Out.

@DetroitRedWings: "I felt awesome; pucks were sticking to me, it was nice... They don't have shootouts in the playoffs, that's when it matters" - Howard

You gotta get there big guy. ;)

I'm getting sick of that mentality. I really feel that's what Babcock is telling them every time they lose one of these. It's not the right attitude for improvement.

What an idiot. Like he's some kind of stalwart in the playoffs.

I don't think that has anything to do with his larger point about shootouts not being involved. He was simply stating they aren't a part of the game then. Jimmy was great two years ago in the playoffs anyways.

So....how about that 3 on 3 overtime thing? Looking a whole lot better now.

I'm starting to fear that GMs are going to look at our record, look at who's leading the charge for 3-on-3 (our GM), and say, "Oh eff that, we're cool with anything that could cost the Wings a playoff spot."

And I'm sure a team like the Isles secretly loves the shootout. What are they now, 6-0? Bastards.

And one good playoff out of five seasons ain't bad.

His quote seems like he just doesn't get it. Neither does the team or Babcock. They'll probably use this same quote all season.

Howards quotes sound like what i call a excuse. Better show up on friday these points can't bite us in the ass.

He gets these quotes from his brilliant GM, who has a book of quotes he uses for every excuse.

To be fair, what members of this team have been any good in the playoffs in that same five-year span? I don't know what people expect Howard or Babs to say. They obviously have a problem in the shootout, but I guess it doesn't strike me as making excuses. I agree they do need to try something else (ideally winning in the first 65 minutes), though part of the shootout is just pure blind luck. I mean, does anyone believe the Islanders who are 9-0 in extra time are doing something that is so incredibly unique to warrant all of their success?

It's frustrating to be sure, but there's a lot of good to take away from this Red Wings team that wasn't present when they were also piling up shootout losses a season ago. The points are too valuable to keep throwing away, so I hope they get back to winning in regulation soon.

They don't have mediocrity in the playoffs either, not past the first round.

That's the mentality Babcock and holland have so why not the players?

I'm sure it rubs off on the players.
