Nashville has yet to lose 2 games in a row this season

And he still got them to the finals once.

Well that was before the team got gutted. That's my point. He started going downhill in Philly right around the time Holmgren did the following:

Traded Bobrovsky for a 2nd, 4th, and 4th.

Traded Carter for Voracek, 1st, and 3rd

Traded Richards for Simmonds, B.Schenn, 2nd

Traded Van Riemsdyk for Luke Schenn.

Signed Brzygalov to a nine year deal (lol)

All of which wouldn't look quite so bad if not for three things. 1) Hindsight. 2) You just went to the finals, why are you blowing up your team? 3) The Flyers are terrible at player development.

I think Philly won two of those four trades... Nonetheless, no excuse for blowing up that team, after going to the finals, losing to Chicago. Paul Holmgren is a moron.

They probably won the Mike Richards trade, but that's as far as I'm willing to do. I don't believe Voracek is as good as he's playing now, so I can't say they won the Carter trade. He's clearly not bad, but he's feasting on a weak division right now.

The only trade I like of that bunch was the Carter deal. The rest of those trades resemble what Holland's body of work would look like, over this same time period, if LGWers had their way.

Richards and Carter trades were wins for Philly in my book.

I'll say it's close on the Carter trade. Voracek has put up good numbers, but Carter was putting up better numbers in Philly...before the re-alignment. But if you factor in the 1st round pick becoming Couturier, maybe.

But the Richards trade was a win for Philly. That one I'll give you.

It was also Sean Couturier, who will be a damn good player, and Nick Cousins to go along with Voracek in the Carter deal.

I feel like they could have gotten more for Richards at the time. Maybe not.

Weren't both players traded because they like to do this too much?richards-carter-party-1.jpg

That's the rumor. Although, they haven't sniffed success since these guys left so maybe having a couple juvenile, alcoholic, ***** hounds on the team wasn't such a bad thing after all.

I mean...it seems to work for Patrick Kane.

It certainly worked well for LA twice, and Detroit in 08 with Hudler on the team

Some of those trades look better now, but I think all of them made the team worse at the time they were made (Couturier had to develop, Bryz was between the pipes, etc) So I think Kip's right to say that the team's struggles were due to the trades rather than coaching.

Absolutely. I wasn't disagreeing with that at all. Just pointing out that the trades weren't all bad. I still think Holmegren is the worst general manager in the NHL. Way too many knee jerk trades. Polar opposite of Holland, which is why he is one of the best in the business.

@Aaron3675: How delicious is that, Spezza scoring on the @PredsNHL after he said lawl no thanks to them over the summer.

@PredsNHL: . @Aaron3675 not as delicious as being 14 points ahead of the Stars in the standings but go on ahead...

ZERO CHILL

Lavi's daughter's turtle tweeted,not sure how though

Anyone else running around chanting "WE'RE #1, WE'RE #1!"? I would, but my run is more of a craw and my chant is more of a whisper. #Preds

:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

love this tweet also:

If the Predators are #1 in the NHL, that means Gold is on the Ceiling.

Any word on why and if he'll be out for a while?

Pekka Rinne day to day with lower body injury. He will be reevaluated on Thursday as tomorrow is a scheduled day off. Update on Thursday.
