There's aggressive, then there's overplaying it so badly you practically slide out the zamboni gate.

It was a bad goal, no matter when it's scored. And a professional goalie should be able to account for the clean sheet of ice. It's not exactly an unprecedented event.

If his rebound control was better he would have been fine. I think its easy to point the blame at Mrazek being too aggressive on this play, afterall they scored on an essentially empty net. But if Mrazek is able to absorb the puck, or deflect it out of play, or into the corner, or even the weakside where he had defenders covering for him, then the puck never goes in. The agressiveness was exploited only because Mrazek spat the puck back out right onto a speeding (and undefended) Raymond's stick. If I had to pick one of the two to blame and Mrazek work to correct, its his rebound control, not his positioning, at least for this particular goal.

Of course it should be accounted for.

And I never said he didn't overplay it, I just liked the aggresiveness of his style.

I guess I just don't understand liking someone's aggressiveness on a particular play when that is the exact reason they gave up a goal.

Your posts on Howard make a lot more sense to me now though.

I'd have to see it again to be sure, but it still looked overly aggressive positioning given the wide angle the attacking player had.

Overall I think he's played well, but he was maybe a little too excitable at the start of the game.

It seems like the Wings haven't been as good on faceoffs these last few games. Any theories on why? They were dominant for a while there.

against awful face off teams as well... Maybe because we're on the road? Helm not playing centre? Datsyuk especially has been getting worked lately

AGAIN...I'm not saying I liked it on the play I'm saying I like it in his style in general. Plus he's young and I'm more prone to give him the benefit of the doubt that he'll improv over time (unlike Howard who is almost 31 and in his 6th year as a starter). If he hasn't improved in 5 years then I'll be as hard on him as I am on Howard.
