Wheelchairsuperhero 1,453 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 Well. No dives tonight. Except for the Calgary dude on Quinceys penalty. I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that looked like a dive. I definitely think that warrants a warning or something.
amato 3,210 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) Wowwwww, that Boston one is bad.. I'm embarrassed for him. Knock it off, nyq. I'd agree that the new jersey one just looked like he was leaning too hard and caught an edge. The Boston dive should've been the warning, imo. Since the new jersey play was a warning though, I wonder how many other players across the league have warnings. Edited January 8, 2015 by amato

Nightfall 871 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 Good on the NHL to stick it to the culture of diving. This ain't soccer. I have to agree with this. There is no excuse for diving. I know many Wings fans, including me, don't condone it and for the most part we don't have players that participate in that buffoonery. The Nyquist video is pretty telling, and I think he will make adjustments in his game as a result. None of the players like being publicly outed and I love the new NHL policy that punishes diving. I would like to see them hit their wallet a bit more than just a couple grand, but I think the policy is working very well.
Holmstrom96 347 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 The fine is deserved and he needs to stop. But I also agree with others, that other things in the league are being let go, and should also be addressed.

I don't know; the way he straightened his legs out in that NJ one didn't seem natural to me.
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted January 8, 2015 Agreed. We're not talking about someone like Maltby who would try to get people to punch him in the face. This is some of the Wings top players who are diving. Man, I miss Maltby sometimes...sometimes I think Kirk Maltby is my spirit animal. 1 kipwinger reacted to this

I like to think of Kirk Maltby knocking back some Carling Black Label and listening to Bachman-Turner Overdrive. 1 gcom007 reacted to this

I like to think of Jesus like with giant eagles wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk! TheWolf 20 Report post Posted January 9, 2015 One is a dive, the other just looks like him falling down. The biggest problem with all of this is that it wasn't called diving on the ice, OR wasn't ignored. I'm disappointed in Nyquist. I'd also wish the refs would be consistent in their calls and actually call penalties. When there isn't a foul, let them play. If players were punished for diving, and very soft penalties ignored, then there wouldn't be incentive to do it. The refs seem pretty terrible in their judgments in general. Then plays like Franzen getting hurt aren't called......
Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted January 14, 2015 Nyquist Franzen Abdelkader Helm Tatar Smith I've seen them all dive or embellish this season. Am I missing anyone? For the record, I hate diving pretty much more than anyone. Kipwinger sounds like me talking to my friends haha Not to doubt you, but i'd love to see some video evidence of Abs, Helm and Smith diving, and even Tatar.
