Franzen on IR

I think by literary standards its a failure, because puns are lazy writing.

But by a drunken hockey forums standards, its a staggering success.

What I appreciate most is how organically it happened. You could tell that it was a clear evolution of thought from "Kip's an ass" to "I'll write ASSociation because puns are ironic and funny" to "it's a pun free for all!".

You're right. Booze is probably involved now that I think about it.

I majored in language and literature during my undergraduate (puns really are the lowest form of humour), and I was stone cold sober when I wrote that.

...I'm just not above a cheap laugh.

Ha. I was more so joking about the drunk thing.

Its just way more fun to think of everything on here being said drunk as hell.

But yeah.

They're still funny to me too.

Franzen could stand to drop some weight since he doesn't utilize his size at all. I really think his apparent compete level is because of his poor conditioning. He used to be a bully in front of the net and scooped up a lot of garbage goals but he has shied away from that so he better start skating

This last post of mine was unwarranted.

Sorry Kip for the assinine comment on my behalf ;)

Lol. I thought you were just talkin trash. I understood it, and still understand it, as gamesmanship. No apology necessary.

Also. You should have punned on ASSinine. Just saying.

While it seems like you're just creating a thread to bemoan Franzen...and I agree, he's really frustrating, you do briefly touch on an interesting quandary. Particularly, what to do with him when he's healthy. It's be interesting to see because we are playing well without him in the lineup right now. So do you give Pulkkinen's spot to Franzen, and if so, what do you do with Jurco?

I don't know that he'll come back from this one. He very well could finish his career on IR.

Is that an assessment you've seen somewhere? I haven't really heard anything about his injury since it happened, but I didn't know know it was anything that serious.

I genuinely forget that he's on the team whether he's playing or not half the time. It's kinda sad. Have they said anything about this injury other than "upper body injury"?

The sad thing is the guy could have been such a dominate force on the ice, huge body frame and blessed with great hands thought he could become a Bertuzzi light but sadly he never turned into such a physical player

I like him a s a person comes of very humble and intelligent but not buying him out will hurt this team in the long run.

He would be a nice addition to a team that already has grit and size and is just looking for a cheap complementary piece.

Just bases on personal experience with concussions and what has happened with other players. I'm not saying he wontbor can't come back, but there's no guarantee.

I hate to say this but if anybody is likely to use concussion symptoms as an excuse to sit on IR for a little longer than he needs, it's Franzen. He takes a significant amount of time every year from a concussion. His brain would be goop if his concussions were that serious. Abby comes back from a concussion in a week cause he actually wants to play. Missing 3-4 weeks each year from a concussion would be very serious and questioning continuing to play.

It's like when Babs called out Helm for sitting on IR all the time (never said this exactly) and then he comes in and plays the next game. Most of the time injuries like tears, soreness and concussions are players discretion and some players really want to play and some don't

I don't think you hated to say that at all, if you did you might have at least tried to check your accuracy.

Prior to last season, Franzen hasn't had a concussion since the '08 playoffs, nor had he missed 3-4 weeks for anything other than the knee surgery.
