Keep an eye on how low the Caps forwards play in their zone here. Our defense has time and space to shoot at the expense of our forwards, who are being checked extra tight. We need an offensive defensman not only to score, but to pull those forwards up to open up some more space lower down.

Granted, we're on a 6 on 5 so obvously Washington is going to play defensive, but this has been a theme all night, and all season.

The loss of Jimmy hurts and we weren't playing good enough tonight. But we're still 2-2 on this roadtrip. Not too bad, I can live with that.

Good point. But he won't reduce our turnovers, at least not on two pairs. Wings really need to work on these.

For some reason, I thought this game was a late start, so I missed most of it. Seems like that was a good thing. Looks like Howard was hurt pretty bad. Apparently Monster is a week or so away from game shape, perhaps we see him back a bit sooner?

Tbh, I'd be perfectly happy if they just turned the reigns over to Mrazek full time while Jimmy is out. Obviously Gus will play some, but I'd be more comfortable having Petr in the starter role for the next little while. After a shaky start to the year, he's been extremely good.

If Mrazek is winning, they'll keep him in.

If not, well see Gus.

But it looks like we got a couple weeks of Mrazek for him to try to steal the back up role for good.
