.....and get's hurt only hours after the announcement. That would have never happened to an elite goalie. Pretty average if you ask me.

In all seriousness : The nomination is well deserved, Jimmy kept us in many games and is one of the main reasons this team is in a playoff-spot. I hope that is injury looked more scary than it is and he recovers till the end of the month.

I hope it's not serious. I'd hate for KH to panic and make a move for a goaltender. I think it's going to be a bit rough until Gustavsson is good enough to play/back-up, but I'd rather keep the assets in this case. Did they say he was two weeks away? Or is he two weeks away from practicing? If it's two weeks to play, I'd much rather Detroit hang on. They've got one back-to-back at the end of this week, but other than that, Mrazek can play 4 games. They get the All-Star break after that.

At the very least, we'll get to see how Mrazek fares against a heavier workload.

Considering Minnesota are desperate for a solution to their goalie woes, I'd have to agree. There would be a bit of a bidding war for a guy like Ward, Enroth or Neuvirth.

I think Mrazek is up to the task and will improve the more he plays. I've got a bit of faith in him, and we know Monster is capable of getting wins and he'll be back pretty soon either way. I'm not incredibly worried about a major drop off in performance from Howard being out.

But I'm wondering when we're going to get a status report on Howard. I keep scanning the newsfeeds looking for something and so far, nothing. I imagine he's back in Detroit today getting tested. Hopefully we'll know more at some point. And hopefully it's not a tear. That's not a slow recovery and some people never fully recover.

I don't think there's any chance Holland makes a trade for a goaltender. If Howard is out for a couple weeks, I think Mrazek is more than capable in shouldering the load with McCollum as back-up until Jimmy gets back. Especially considering the only other back to back for the remainder of this month is next weekend. Mrazek can start on Saturday night vs the Preds, and we can see what McCollum has in him on Sunday night vs the Sabres. If Howard is going to be out for an extended period of time (more than a month), Holland could opt to sign a goalie to a contract, such as Thomas, Vokoun, Khabibulin, Giguire, etc. (I'm pretty sure these guys are all free agents?...). Anyhow, let's hope Howard is back soon and continues his All-Star calibre season.

Congrats Jimmy! Hopefully his injury is'nt too bad and he gets back soon, but they should'nt rush it. Monster should be back in a week or so. Apparently whats keeping him out is only being able to lift his glove to a certain height, but its getting alot better. Mrazek is more than capable of playing till then. No worries, unless Mc Collum gets a start. :scared:

I completely forgot about those guys. I wouldn't be opposed to signing a guy like Tim Thomas to a league minimum contract if Howard is going to be out for a while and if Mrazek shows he cant handle it. (though I think he can). The only guy I cant see coming is Giguire, I think he had offers but wanted to retire.

I wonder if they would go for Brodeur? That would be weird to see!

Is'nt Brodeur with the Blues still? I know Elliot is back, and Allen is backing him up, but I was watching the Blues/Canes game last night and they said something a bout a "three goalie system". Would imagine Brodeurs in there?
