Jimmy Howard.......All-Star!

There seems to be a lot of concern over Howard's injury for so many fans that thought we should trade Howard and role with Mrazek as our starter...

I think Mrazek will be fine, but I hope Howard is ready to go within the next 4 weeks... This is going to be a crucial month of hockey for the Wings.

These next 11 games are crucial. In that time we play the Blues, preds, lightning, and the islanders. The first game after the "4 weeks" is the pens.

I like petr, he will probably be a great goalie. But does he really compare currently to the likes of Elliott, rinne (best current goalie in the league), bishop, halak, and flower?

He's a rookie with only a handful of games. How can you really compare but he's becoming a lot more than a lot of us thought already.

No, but I don't think he needs nor should he have to be. If the wings can manage to play some solid hockey and score some goals then they won't have to rely on Mrazek to steal games.

Edit: what I'm meaning to say is that we just need him to play solid.

I'm not expecting mrazek to be phenomenal. And I'm not comparing him to anyone. I'm stating some really good teams we will be playing who have some really good goalies. It was a fair statement because its about to happen. I hope he is ready for the big times cause he's about to get slapped in the face with a big dose of what the nhl really is. Sink or swim time.

I don't know what it is, but it seems like the team scores a little more when he's in net.

With Howie it seems like we're scoring maybe 2-3 goals a game (if that), whereas with Petr it seems like we're scoring 3-4.

Maybe I'll try and find some numbers tmrw. I don't really know if I feel like adding up all of howie's games for the season or if I should just take a random sample (match as many games as Petr has played, 20 GP 15 GS). I don't know.

It's because Mrazek is a good person and his teammates play hard for him.

All I know is that Petr and Howard both get caught out of their net

Because of that one time Mrazek got burned in Calgary. We all know that on LGWs, one time = labeled for all eternity.

Mrazek is actually two zillion times better at playing the puck (including NOT getting caught) than Howard is. Am I exagerting? Perhaps. But, when in Rome................

So, back to the ASG, I was reading an article by Sean McIndoe (Down Goes Brown on Twitter) about the weirdest ASG appearances in history. In 1983, Richard Brodeur was the Canucks' starter, but he suffered an ear injury that would keep him out of the game.

"That left the league with a problem. Brodeur was the Canucks’ only All-Star selection, and the rules said that each team had to be represented. And since he was a goalie, his replacement would need to be one too. That left Garrett as the only possible choice, even though he’d won only six games all year. At the time, the whole thing was viewed as “kind of a mockery of the sport,” according to, uh, John Garrett himself."

Makes me wonder if they'll elect to use Mrazek in the game, given that this is how the situation was handled in the past.

It was the same thing with Gustavsson last year which is why Jimmy's numbers were so bad last year and Gus' were good. The safety net is on IR.

So who will be representing the Red Wings?

They'll likely squeeze Datsyuk on the team somehow. No one else remotely deserves it.

I suppose if they wanted to be funny, they'd send Quincey or Cleary, but the NHL doesn't go for that sort of thing (remember Rory?)
