I mean, wasn't he just going to play Miller and Glendening more than Weiss and Pulkkinen anyway? Seems like he just put all the guys he doesn't play much on one line and all the guys he was going to play more on the other.

I have no idea how this will turn out.

Not really sure why you'd change lines around after 2.66 games of excellent hockey, but whatever. I'm honestly tired of trying to figure out why Babcock does what he does, and whether it will work or not. I hope this is the best set of line combos yet.

I just going to go ahead and actually write these lines down here:

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Abdelkader

Tatar - Datsyuk - Helm

Weiss - Andersson - Pulkinnen

Miller - Sheahan - Glendenning

I think you've got it mixed up.

Miller-Sheahan-Glendening is going to be the third line, and Weiss-Andersson-Pulkkinen the fourth. At least that's what recent time on ice stats suggest.

Well s***.

In that case:

Miller - Sheahan - Glendenning

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Abdelkader

Tatar - Datsyuk - Helm

Weiss - Andersson - Pulkinnen

Maybe so when we offer teams Helm they won't be like why would we want Helm when we can have Sheahan... after all, Sheahan's just a fourth liner. Very strange, I though Babs loved Sheahan. Maybe showcasing Andersson? I can't see Babs ever using a less effective lineup just for these reasons

You know, I honestly didn't think Helm, Datsyuk, and Weiss would work either and it was a decent line...so who knows?

I mean, I clearly think it's a disaster, but I guess I've just got to wait and see. I'm baffled.

Weiss doesn't deserve more than 10 minutes a game imo. He's been a passenger since returning from injury. Not engaged at all. Looks like the hobbled player we had last year. He's getting PP time and sheltered minutes, this should be good for him.

Bad feeling about tonight's game. Lines are trash. Expect a lot of ridiculous line juggling

I actually agree. When Weiss was scoring a point a game (roughly) it was stupid to have him on the fourth line and they should have rode him (and his confidence) for as long as possible. But lately he's been pedestrian...so I can't really blame Babs for demoting him. Hell, Babs has demoted Nyquist and Franzen so far this season when they weren't scoring. Weiss is no exception.

I think I figured out the lines, guys. Babs is ALL about overcoming adversity and earning the right to feel good about yourself and working your way back up through the lineup, so anytime someone starts playing poorly, Babs gets excited because this is an opportunity for a player to grow, so he demotes them to the third or fourth line. Except Sheahan has been on the club for over a year, now, and hasn't had a poor stretch yet. And Babs is baffled and upset because Sheahan hasn't had that opportunity to build character or whatever. So Babcocks is all "whatever, I'll give you adversity myself! Glendening! Miller! You guys are playing with Sheahan now!" And that's the story of how Mike Babcock saved Sheahan from himself.

Welp looks like we solved the lines mystery

On a more serious note, maybe its because miller and Glendenning have been pinning top lines in their own zone for their entire shift the last three games, and sheahans been an amazing playmaker.

Maybe he thinks this gives them more if a chance to score since sheahan can make the amazing pass to get them a goal while the other two forecheck the puck to him.

GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two from Weiss this Tuesday night

Pulkkinin gets the horn going

:siren::punk::siren:

Teemu hasn't looked bad in his call up, but I still feel he's squeezing his stick, a little too eager to shoot perhaps and has made a few poor decisions. I'm glad he's here, but I don't think the Wings are maximising his potential. Or maybe i just got spoiled last year because Sheahan and Jurco came up and contributed from the get go. Here's hoping he pots one tonight
