Yup, definitely no idea what I'm talking about... says the guy that "likes" the majority of what I write. Keep up your Brendan Smith sucks comments, and while he keeps improving, and the rest of us fans (even Kip, who was probably the biggest hater) take notice, you'll still be grumbling about how "bad" he is...

Jimmy, I could care less if you read my comments. Me personally, I'd rather read long thought out comments then the one liners a lot of people on here provide most of the time...

July 28, 2013? I was probably preoccupied with the endless butt patting. That was right after Hampus Melen was drafted.

Ha. As long as I got into the butt patts eventually its cool.

I know. Now I gotta push your buttons double to make up for his slacking.

Explain why you like "pushing my buttons"... You wouldn't know but I hailed him as the second coming or something. I simply think he is a good young defenseman that takes way too much flack from Wings fan, much like Ericsson did a few years back...

Cause this place is beyond slow these days.

I love all my Red Wings. EVEN FRANZEN. Smith's no different. You said it yourself... I like just about everything you say... I think we might have closer opinions on Smith than you think... Sorry for the confusion.

Lol fair enough. Well stop pushing my f***ing buttons!

I'm in the same boat with Franzen as well. Do I get frustrated with him? Absolutely. It would be near impossible not to. But he takes WAY too much heat on here. I hope he gets healthy and has another decent run down the stretch and into the playoffs.

I recently visited his stats on elite prospects & I'm not 100% on this but my best guess is that his last stats listed are Sweden's junior 20 & under league..? Anyway, 4 games played: 7 goals and 14 points! He's gunna make is right?! Please tell me hampus is going to make it to the show!! :D haha (I'll settle for the Griffins.... But hampus won't.)

It's been a while since there was some Hampus Melen updates, so it's good to see.

As far as well thought-out walls of text, I enjoy reading them. I'd post more, but usually many of the points I'd make are already made and I don't like to be too redundant, especially if the first post is well made. I tend to go for the shorter run and gun posts, especially during GDT's, but if someone asks for detail since they can't get a game feed, I try to help since I'm in that situation more than I'd like. As far as the weak attempts at humor, that can't be helped. :)

Regarding the draft picks and our prospects, I defer to those who have the time to look into them and give decent info. I don't like to blindly guess based on size and stats. Mantha was the first pre-draft prospect I was pumped for, mostly due to info provided here by knowledgeable posters. To those who provide that info, thanks again.

As far as piling on players, I like to think I call them out when it is deserved, but also give props when deserved. I remember ripping Howard early on, but he became much better. KFQ is another.

Jason ******* Williams, on the other hand..... ;)

For this draft, I think I'm going to keep trusting what Hakan Andersson suggests from Europe (how awesome has he been as a scout for so long?) and what Kenny picks. In terms of what we've been able to put on the ice relative to our poor drafting position, the Wings have done a great job to maintain the on-ice success.

Neither will bos

Are we talking about the same guy here??

The man, the legend, the Melen!

(I think I just came up with his biography title)

(Also, I'm aware that he is, more than likely, a lifetime Euro player)

edit: crossed out momentary lapse in judgement.... I hadn't had my coffee yet.

Anyone know anything about Filip Chlapik? Decent size and stats, from what I've read he's still adjusting to the NA game. Should be available late first round, we could trade back with Buffalo and grab him there. I just don't know anything about the kid.

The more highlight videos I watch of Svechnikov, the more I hope the Wings can draft him. Highly skilled and currently ranked 21st overall in mid-term central scouting rankings. He'll probably be gone by the time we draft but it would be nice to have a winger of his caliber in the system.

Here are some guys that are in most mock drafts between 15-22. The group that we should have to pick from at 18/19.

Svechmikov 6-2/185 LH LW. Room to grow, good hands and feet.

Bittner 6-4/195 LH LW. Tall and lanky atm, but should be a classic power forward.

Meier 6-0/195 LH LW/RW. Physical offensive player, needs to work on his D.

Roy 6-0/185 RH D. Undersized offensive Dman. Needs work in his own end.

Ek Eriksson 6-2/180 LH C. Great effort 2 way player. Average skills atm. Effort carries him.

Chabot 6-2/180 LH D. Good sized offensive Dman. Needs work on D.

Meloche 6-2/200 RH D. Big and mobile. Good both ends.

Greenway 6-5/225 LH LW. big and physical with good skills. Only getting better.

Derguckov 6-4/200 LH C. Typical big Russian C. Good skills and good in both ends of the ice.

A smooth skating defenceman who can put up points, utilizing his strength behind his shot, and plays with an edge. Has very good awareness on the ice, and notices possible scoring chances before they happen. Very intelligent defensively and makes high percentage decisions in his own end. When at the top of his game, Nicolas Meloche can be a game-changing, physical two-way defenceman. (Curtis Joe, EP 2014)

Meloche sounds intriguing...
