2015 Draft

Greenway..hoping if Detroit drafted him they'd convince him to go to the OHL instead of college. then I can see him he in Flint. I'd take Coln White too

We need to drag things out as much as possible to develop. Now that teams only have 3 seasons in the minors for their prospects before waivers, college hockey could become more important.

Would love greenway as our pick, with meloche as the second option over all.

Count me in on the Meloche band wagon. I've heard very little about draft prospects but he sounds like he has potential to be a solid defenseman.. unless someone better happens to drop to us. But really, seeing that it's a deep draft class, I fully expect Holland to trade down.. so hopefully Meloche drops a little too..?

Best player available, hopefully trade down a few spots and get an extra pick while getting a guy they were looking at in the original spot. There's too much time between the draft and when a player is ready to draft needs unless your organization is completely devoid of a certain position.

This is a draft where I'd trade down.

There are a lot of good players ranked higher than 30th this year and by moving down we can likely get 2 in that group plus recover the 3rd round pick we traded away.

I have a feeling some of our prospect depth is going to be depleted this year either by promotion or via trade so we'll need to restock that cupboard sooner rather than later.

Richdg, I brought up the Sproul situation briefly in another thread, and I'll say the same thing I said over there. He played great in game 2 and 3 of the Toronto series, and it was really unfortunate that he was the odd man out when Marchenko was sent back down. No doubt, Sproul has had a rough season relative to expectations but he still has a ton of upside. I've far from given up on him, and I still believe he will be a top 3-4 defenseman in the NHL some day.

In saying that our defensive depth is lacking big time. I would be absolutely shocked if the Wings don't take a defenseman with their first pick in this years draft... Preferably Nicolas Meloche or Jeremy Roy, unless Zack Werenski drops way down to us (not going to happen...).

I think we got our 3rd rounder ... I be down for trading down and possibly doing like we did last yr with dominic turgeon and trading 2016 pick and possibly drafting 3 2nd rounders if we like someone

Holmstrom larkin athanasiou mantha bertuzzi won't get dealt so our prospect pool is still good and we got nosek as well and frk tvrdon who stepped up late as well , but like every draft we gotta hope to land 2-3 nhlers at least

Any one know if louiis marc Aubry is out of waiver options? I had written him out but I heard he's been a lot better and he's a big body like 6'4 I believe and god knows we need that on our lineup

Aubry is a UFA after this season. He has been much better but still nothing to write home about. We could re-sign him but it won't be a huge loss if we let him walk either. He's no better than Emmerton or Andersson, he could survive a stint in the NHL but he's never going to stick full time in my opinion.

Can he skate? If so I'd rather have him than miller or anderssen at this point ... Adding a big body like Aubry even if it's on the 4th can't hurt

It was this thread a couple of months back. I think he has a chance to do it. I also beleive oullett and marchencko do. ATM it appears the RW's believe those 2 are ahead of Sproul.

He's a decent skater but would be a downgrade from Miller in ever aspect of the game in my opinion... I don't love Miller by any means, and he is very replaceable but there are definitely better options available than Aubry, such as Ferraro / Callahan.

There's no question, both Ouellet and Marchenko are ahead of Sproul right now. But make no mistake, there is a huge difference in being ahead in development and being the better prospect. I'd still rank Sproul above any defenseman in our system in overall potential despite his down season.

I don't think there has ever been a time where they weren't ahead of Sproul.

Sproul has a ton of potential but has yet to realize most of it. I still have high hopes for him next year but he needs to take a big step forward if he's going to make the jump to the next level.

As far as I know, we traded away our 2nd and got a 3rd back in the Cole trade. And we lost our 3rd in last years draft in the Turgeon trade... That would leave us with 1, 3 (from Dallas), 4, 5, 6, 7...

That is correct.

Thanks. I didn't think we had a second but I thought we had an additional third. Damn! Svechniov, Carlo, Larsson or Bittner at number 1. I'm warming up on Greenway but not enough at the 19 spot. Kinda hoping for Rasmus Anderson in the third if he can fall

I trust in our scouting staff and if it were possible id keep trading back and try and get as many picks for the 2nd and 3rd rounds as possible and try and draft some gems in there

That is what I was thinking a couple of pages ago. Try to move back 10 spots or so and add a 2nd round pick. The difference in talent from the 15th through the 50th pick is very small.

I thought we traded our second for zid, and our third last draft to move up with Columbus, only to receive a third back from Dallas in the Cole trade.

2nd was for Cole. Zidlicky was next year's 3rd.
