2015 Draft

Just forget the grammar guys.... why do you care? It's a forum... on hockey... from people who are in different parts of the world where English might not be the first language. And again, it's a forum.... people here aren't writing, nor do they care to write, for Grammar Nazi magazine. Let's talk hockey. I find the forum for this years draft to be lacking seriously. Where in the hell is the excitement, speculation, and rumors?

Holland is going to hard after Green in UFA.... Wings also have so much forward depth they could use some prospects in a trade to get a top D. And if they don't, this team is going to be exciting to watch (more than it is now) with a lines like these:

Svechnikov - Larkin - Mantha

Athanasiou - Turgeon - Pulkkinen

I know, there will be current players like Tatar and Nyquist that will factor into these lines, but it's still exciting to think about. Now stop being so cranky and discuss the draft!

The bad grammar is what is ******* with me. I'm a grammar prick *******. The intentional misuse of grammar is making me dizzier than the many, many craft beers I've consumed. Yet my spelling and grammar is likely still very much up to snuff, if not impeccable by message board standards. Oh f***.

Lol Sweeney is a moron, trading Hamilton - their best defenseman - and Lucic and then reach some questionable picks lol

Nonono frank.

The first pick was questionable, the other two were just bad.

On another note.

Did anyone else find the commentary on svechnikov amusing?

"He could play In the NHL next season."

"But this is Detroit, so hell be going to grand rapids."

"He's not eligible to play in the a, so hell be back with his team."

"Hardy had her, herrr."

"NnnmmmmDerrrppp."

"But let's bring it back to Connor Mcdavid, now here's the same three highlights of him we've been playing over and over since its seemingly the only pieces of film we can get on him."

The scary thing is Sweeney has a scout background and their picks are so bad it's not even funny Bruins essentially traded Seguin and Hamilton for Debrusk and Zboril lol that's so bad...how does Neilly not nix this deal or Charlie not stepping in, this almost you are fired bad. Would have given them a first, Nyquist and AA for DH27 Treliving robbed Boston lol

Hate that Werenski went at 8 kid is the second best defender in the whole draft lol at the flyers picking Provornov guess they like people playing in the khl what a waste

When will gms learn not to pick Russians ? It's like losing a first for nothing if things aren't going their way they'll just take their puck and go to the khl

I'm starting to think its neelys doing, honestly.

And i dont think the Russian factor is a problem anymore, especially not with the shape of their economy. Luckily for us, svech has been in na already for awhile.

I also would've taken Werenski over provorov, but its not like it was that bad of a reach.

Yeah their economy is bad but the khl is still owned by some otherworldly rich oil guys and they'll pay a premium for their local players. Wouldn't shock me at all if we'll never see Provornov coming over.

Trading your best defender going forward and then the heart and soul of your franchise is just wow..Boston fans are furious as they should be. Neely should be focusing on the business side I mean he is not the GM nor a scout

Lol at the Leafs passing on Hanifin Reilly, Hanifin would have been a scary top pairing now they have an undersized center and no too pairing of they decide to try trade Phaneuf

So I must really be missing something. Svechnikov is an awesome pick at 19th overall. Big. Raw. Fast. Elite skill. And a great demeanour (watch some interviews). There should be way more partying going on here.

I drank too much.

At least I must have, because frank seems to be really reasonable today.

But I'm happy with him, I don't know what to expect from him though.

1st line winger?

Second liner?

What do you think?

Ha.

The leafs said something about not having enough skill, and mariner has it in spades as long as his body holds up.

And I'm kinda glad he fell to the canes, faulk-hanifin could be amazing together too, plus if he hits his ceiling, we won't have to play him too often.

And reading boston fans tweets/hfboards posts is bringing me such joy, there's already a hash tag to fire Sweeney...

If they went this far, why not keep trading older guys. They can't be done, they have three goalies, So I'm excited to see if they continue their downfall tomorrow.

Ooh are we calling him svech? I like that.

I would have loved for us to try to trade up for Werenski but it would be hard for us to move up that much so oh well. I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade for a defenseman now. Then again, holland said nothing is on the horizon...

I think you're right, there is a common denominator in all these trades and its not Sweeny or Chiarelli. What I don't understand, is if Boston wanted to re-build, why not trade Chara? What trade your young stud d-man.

Nobody is gonna take Chara's contract at his age. But there were definitely ways to shed salary that did not involve Hamilton for sure. Dumping Lucic was a good move. Hamilton, not so much.

Dumping Lucic would've been a good cap move, had they not retained almost half of his cap hit.

I mean, they got something for him instead of losing him for nothing next off season, so its better than nothing.

The pitchforks are at full force in Boston rightfully so even the new CEO Charlie Jacobs is getting his share wow. Some are speculating that this might be a nice towards an internal budget without announcing it. They are comparing their new GM to the likes of Milburry which might be pushing it but man that's bad. Wonder if Bergeron and Krejci would be available too. Lucic will cash in next year no matter what something around 7x7 which is a bit high.

Buffalo is scary their rebuild is coming along, insane center depth but defense and goaltending need some work. See avs that's what you get for playing it cheap with such a great center RoR will for sure get an 56 mill offer from Pegula.

Not happy with the Wings pick, Detroit needed a defender and failing that a center not another winger .

Well he can play center too and in the first round you always almost go for the best player available regardless of the position. Good defensemen have a tendency to slide anyway while good forwards don't.

If it is Neely, it's like he's trying to get rid of any player who's career with the Bruins might overshadow his own.

Talbot to the Oilers for three picks.

Pierre LeBrun@Real_ESPNLeBrun 7m

There you go, Talbot to the Oilers. That's the guy that made the most sense for Edmonton.

Kylington is 6 feet tall...they seem to want to draft bigger defensemen of late...although those last two didn't pan out at all

Toronto is going "small and skilled" this year....get ready to hear "you have to be heavier on the puck boys" for the next 10-12 years of your lives kids...
