Diving Fines

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Couldn't find any catch all diving fines thread (if there is one, please merge this mods) so I figured I'd start one....

Add PK to the list.

"@GinoRedaTSN: PK Subban fined $2000 for diving. Was warned in game vs Tampa Jan 6, was caught again vs Rangers on Chris Kreider call last Thursday."

I couldn't find a video.. if anyone can, please share.

I, for one, am pretty glad fined players are getting announced one way or another.

So far, it's Cal Clutterbuck, Nyquist, Vincent Trocheck, & James Neal, in addition to PK, who have been fined.

Edit: here's a video.

Nice find but please write Nyquist bigger I've had to zoom in a lot to read the gname on my phone.

Anyway I think the amount of money these guys are fined is a joke, suspend them for 2 games after the first warning and then they'll learn.

Nice find but please right Nyquist bigger I've had to zoom in a lot to read the gname on my phone.

I think you missed the joke.

I think Nyquist's fine should become like that embarrassing secret about your uncle that everyone knows, but no one will ever mention out loud

If you ask me, the better solution than a paltry fine is to change the way the penalty is called.

Player A hooks Player B. Player B embellishes. As it stands now, both player A and Player B receive penalties, for hooking and embellishment respectively.

I say it should be changed to where the embellishment negates Player A's penalty, and the embellishing player's team now goes on the PK.

Then again, SJ would spend the entire 60 minute game shorthanded, so that idea probably wouldn't work...

I thought that originally too.. and I don't disagree that penalizing just the diver would help, but the original penalty should still be enforced imo. It's still a penalty.

I think a little harsher of punishment, like a one game suspension after the second or third embellishment, gets the point across more.

I just wonder how many players have received warnings. Maybe it's a lot and they've since stopped embellishing. The system could be working; we kind of have no way to tell really. There's nothing really to compare it too since this is the first season that fines have been used.
