Jersey Wing 1,521 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 I've been watching the Devils for a few games now and Zidlicky still seems to be the only guy playing smart and playing hard on a bad team. Tonight vs Edmonton without his positioning when others were running around the Oilers could have won by 3 or 4. I like his passing. He's solid, a RIGHT HANDED shot and a free agent at the end of the year. I cannot imagine a 38 year old would cost a prime young player or anything more really than a second or third round pick, especially in NJ where a draft pick costs nothing and even a fourth line player has a salary. Thoughts?

Thoughts? He's always been a real gud puck mover. My only worry is we acquire him and he gets injured down the stretch or in the playoffs. He hasn't played even close to a full season since 2009-10. Jersey Wing 1,521 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Well he's been playing 20 minutes + a night and they're using him in all special team situations so I think he's versatile enough to maybe eat some minutes down the stretch and could be a nice insurance policy. And my interest is a veteran guy who won't wet himself if thrown into a game 6 and won't cost much unless the Wings land a Tyler Myers etc. Edited February 10, 2015 by Jersey Wing

jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) I'd be fine offering them a fourth round pick, but not much else. Maybe. A conditional third. And what are our plans with kindl, keep him around for the depth, or just drop him into Arizona. Because I would like to get zidlicky if nothing else comes through... DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 Someone will give up at least a second round pick for him, probably a first. I'm not sure Zidlicky is worth that.
Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 I think a 1st is stretching it, but I could see someone sending a 2nd over. If some of the bigger names out there are being moved, Zidlicky could be a good under the radar pick-up while all of that is going on. He's certainly not the prettiest princess at the ball, but he's a still a solid defender.
number9 3,297 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 Only downside is he's definitely a rental
Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 i think Kenny has stated that if he makes a trade itll be big and not a rental. they want someone who'll be part of the set up for 3-5 years and not gone at the end of the play offs. Zidlicky 5 years ago yes but not now.
Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 Have there been any reports linking Zidlicky to Detroit... or anywhere, for that matter? It seems like New Jersey has been quiet, despite them being a sure-fire seller at the deadline. Their prospect cupboard is U.G.L.Y. 1 daniel1 reacted to this
Jersey Wing 1,521 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 I did some checking and a week back Lyle Richardson mentioned the idea of Zidlicky to Detroit. 1 daniel1 reacted to this

nawein 324 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 What do they even have worth selling that anyone might want? Cammalleri, Jagr, Zidlicky, that's pretty much it if there don't want to move young guys.
