I thought maybe the break would give Jimmy time to get back up to speed, but I have been reading that Mraz will get this game, too. That's OK. We need his spunkiness out there. Hopefully everyone is ready to play and have been working during the time off!

LGRW!!!!

I must admit.....I snorted out some of my latte when reading this.

EDIT - Not sure if he'll get the chance, but I'd love to see Glendening have an opportunity to get under the skin of Crosby/Malkin.

I can all but guarantee that Sheahan's line will be out there against Crosby and Datsyuk's line vs Malkin. Until those guys start to cry and Johnston is forced to really work the match-ups.

I'm not sure what to expect from this game....the Pens have struggled quite a bit lately, probably mostly due to injuries (even to guys playing). However, I think a lot of their struggles may be against others in their own division as they still have a pretty good record against the Atlantic (12-2-3) and the West.

I think the Wings could win this in easy fashion, but if the Pens play the way they can, one might think the Wings would struggle....but the Wings have been in most games this year, so I think that is unlikely.

If I were trying to match lines, I'd have the line that tries to shut down (Datsyuk's) play against Crosby and I'd have our agitators out against Malkin. I've found that Crosby doesn't get too agitated anymore like he used to, but Malkin is still prone to getting thrown of his game.

Expect a shat-ton of Red Wing penalties, Perron's stupid "I'm special" tinted visor, and lots of the "suttal" talk from EdZo.

$5 says Crosby will be on the phone calling Gary after the 1st period.

Yep. And Glendenning with the phantom "Game Misconduct" penalty in the 2nd.

Not sure I'd expect a ton of DET penalties this game as PIT doesn't draw a lot of PPs. DET is #2 in the league in terms of PP opportunities, PIT is #16. In terms of penalties taken, DET is up there at #6, but PIT is even worse at #3.

Yeah. Based on the numbers.

But the tinfoil hat wearing, Bettman hating, fan in me thinks that the only way Pitts wins tonight is with help from the officials. Thus it will be so. If not, I'll be "positively surprised".

i bet glendening makes cindy throw a hissy fit to the refs before first intermission.

Seems to be common sentiment.

I'm predicting a blowout. The Pens are a paper tiger. They'll try to play wide open with us and we'll bury them. Teams need to figure out, the way to be Detroit is to slow them down, not speed them up. Hence, Barry Trotz' Capitals gave us fits and Nashville got stomped.

Once the two starters back to 100 % he will be send down to the AHL to work on his game, as it should be.

That's what is most likely, but there's always that little intriguing factor that Mrazek has played extremely well, and could help to push Howard if he were promoted full time backup.
