I don't recall hearing Henrik Zetterberg's name mentioned a single time last night. That's probably not good.

The focus of the play-by-play and commentary was so Chicago-centric there was no time to mention the Zetterberg line.

Not that they weren't playing well.

Great shootout win last night. I really didn't see the LGW masses ***** out Tatar for the slow-mo shootout that Kane normally does. I suppose if Tatar does it, its all good. Personally, its not against the rules, so I don't see why more shooters don't do it. Maybe they lack the skill that Kane and Tatar have. Who knows.

I am going to be flying down to Dallas to see the Wings take on the Stars on Saturday. I really can't wait to see this game now.

Now, as for the people thinking the Wings are doomed. Remember.....

Everyone thought the Wings were doomed in October during the schedule of death. We finished October 6-2-2.

Now everyone is thinking the Wings are doomed with a brutal schedule in February. So far we are 3-2-1

Give the Wings some credit. They are doing what they need to do.

I thought he just had a quite game because he was dragging around a slow, undersized, one-dimensional rookie all night. Or did was he carrying him on his shoulders?

But in all seriousness...

I didnt' think the commentary was Chicago centric at all. I personally heard Edzo refer to Datsyuk as "one of the best in the game", "world class", a "sure fire hall of famer". He also called Babcock "the best in the business", and commented that Detroit's success was "remarkable". Also, both he and Pierre were very critical of Versteeg after his little meltdown.

I was actually pretty impressed by the NBC boys last night.

meh. They always drool over Datsyuk and give Babcock his due. ...and don't take "remarkable" as anything but a veiled jab.

The Versteeg bit was cute. I also like Doc's subtle poking fun of Edzo's bias from time to time.

I just can't get with Edzo. No matter what game he's calling.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not gushing over the guy. But I really didn't think last night's broadcast was biased. Nothing jumped out as being overtly partisan.

Oh, and I do gush a little over Pierre McGuire. That guy is awesome. I seriously love his commentary. He's like the anti Jack Edwards...in the sense that he actually talks about hockey and isn't a blowhard douchebag.

Babcock in regards to Pulkkinen last night:

"He found a way to hit the net. I think he had 6 shots. I like that. I like people who shoot the puck. He's heavy on his stick. He wins some loose puck battles. Today's not a test. We'll see what happens."

He actually had four shots. But I think the praise is still warranted.

I think he did it more so to taunt Kane, that's why everyone was so happy. He used Kane's move to beat the hawks after Kane botched the very same move. If he did it constantly it would get old fast and I wouldn't care for it.

If he scores every time I don't care if he does that from the blue Line in.

Ha.

Obviously it'd get annoying but if it works, it works,

Also I don't recall having seen any moaning about kanes shootouts.

Maybe I just stop reading before all the depressing comments start before we lose the shootout, but i just cant recall it.

Agreed. I think they're awesome. I could see complaining about them if he broke a rule or something. Instead he's just really super awesome at shootouts. Nothing to see here...except amazing stickhandling and otherworldly dekes...of course.

ALSO!

they showed a recap of the game tonight in ESPN where it was titled "shootout showdown" and the only shots they showed of the shootout were gooses goal, and sharps miss...

You'd think they'd show the Kane miss, tats copy and scores.

But no.

ESPN's trash.

Except Olbermann. That guy rules. He's such a dick.

Edit: Lol.

That won't be the last time we see it from Tatar. It also won't be the last time that Wings fans praise it while complaining when Kane does it. I guarantee it.

I will unapologetically complain when Kane does it and cheer when Tatar copies it, still doesn't mean I don't want the league to clarify the slowdown/stop rules or at least call it just one time to set a precedent.

Isn't that what makes us fans? We're biased. If datsyuk dekes through the whole team and scores a beautiful backhander I'll sing his praises about it for years, if (insert opposing hated player name here) did it to us I'd scream and yell that our d sucks, goalie should have had it, and there was a missed penalty somewhere in there. That's what makes us fans of one team were passionate about said team.

Why does anyone have a problem when any player uses the slow approach method? The league implemented a stupid way of settling games. People shouldn't be upset when players take what is given to them. Does everyone really think a shooter should skate it in fast, thereby letting the goalie use the shooter's momentum against him?
