Team next season?

I'd honestly put Pulk and Tatar and Smith and Weiss into a package and go after 1 or 2 studs.

Pulk couldn't look more lost and less ready for the NHL if he tried.

And Smith is a disaster most nights.

Maybe trade them for a Reilly Smith and someone?

Tatar should not be traded. Ever. Once he stops getting turnovers (which will happen with experience) he may wind up being our best goal scorer

Hes better then nyquist. Looks like he always will be too

Although, someone did mention JVR. That is someone Tatar is comparable to

Comparable to JVR how?

More in a production/age comparison. JVR is better. Just kind of added it as a situation i might be okay trading Tatar in.

I'd personally rather keep Tats but thats probably just because I've been following him since he got drafted

JVR is way better than Sheahan, but they do play the same style.

I was thinking in terms of style, for sure. Same reason I wasn't connecting Tatar-JVR.

Yeah they're definitely 2 different types of players. Both goal scorers, but JVR is a quick hands around the net guy and uses his size. Tatar is probably the exact opposite lol

They really are 2 guys that could be traded for eachother based on what each team wanted

Tatar is a mexican water bug

Tatar needs to put on weight then. Honestly, I'd trade him while his stock is high. He doesn't have the same intangibles as other small players, Marty St Louis have.

Also, JVR?

Give me JVR now. I'll give up Smith, Tatar and a 4th rounder.

In other news, John Scott has scored 150% more goals this season than his career total before this year. He's going to be a UFA this summer. :bye:

From an unremembered poster at nhlcom site after the boston last shutout to caps: John Scott against Caps 1, Boston 0

I'll throw my wish list lineup just remember not accounting for salaries, cap etc

I think Z and Dats need to stay on top line, with a big body but not cole

Z - Datz - ? (helm unless we get a real power forward)

Tatar - Sheahan - Nyquist

Abby - Weiss - Pukks

Miller - Glendening - ?

Trade Jurco, get rid of Andersson , Cole (I liked Cole but really that was like years ago don't think we need more age a vet captain "should" almost be enough imo), Franzen IR, Cleary *poof* thanks but your gone; and I wouldn't mind seeing Glenner gone for a better 4th liner but we will miss his faceoff % prob and I am in the keep miller camp he does hit some big body good d so fine with him remember we let eaves go cuz we had him

on D : Hell no to Phaneuf

Kronner - Ericcson ( Big Rig can play and stood up on the kronner hit one subpar year no reason to lose him)

Dekeyser - Zids ( I think Zids has played great since he came here even better than some of our own )

Quincey - Smith ( I think Smith has shown some upside as an offensive dman this year and will get better plus he has balls last year when times were tough he showed gut standing up to Chara somewhat more than I can say about anyone else on this team, no kronwalls recently or coming probably)

Marchenko

Hopefully fill in spots with better players

All I'm hoping for is a culture change = finally become a tougher and not so boring to watch team and please fix the defense.

Get rid of Ericsson, Smith, and Kindl. Re-sign Zidlicky. Sign Mike Green in the off-season. Maybe trade for Phaneuf if the price is right.

Last but not least… Hope that the Blues lose in the first round and don't offer Hitchcock another contract. Let Babs go and sign Hitch. Swap one 'cock for another.

I wouldn't mind Holland going after Paul Martin as a UFA instead of re-visiting the Phanuef deal. Weiss and Kindl will probably be traded anyway, but why pay the higher price of Phanuef? Especially the $7M, Martin would fit the bill nicely.

The UFA market is going to be so thin that it'll probably take a huge overpayment to get one of the very few decent UFA dmen this summer. Martin will likely go to the highest/longest bidder or a team that is more of a "contender".

I wouldn't be surprised to see Columbus go after Green. After unloading Wisniewski, they could add him without much of an issue.

I thought I remembered them unloading Wiz as a way for them to get ready to extend some upcoming free agents that were due for a raise..?

I could be wrong..

But, I'd love to see the wings sign Green if he'd come at a reasonable price. Zid has shown us just how much a RH offensive D man can help this team.

funny that folks think the any of Sproul, Marchenko or Ouellet will be promoted to be the #7 guy...that would be a waste of time and talent. May be the same for Jensen, but at least of the 4 kids, he has the least potential to be a top 4 guy in the NHL. Holland will not continue to pay Kindl over $2M to be a #7 and he will not pot ANY of his prized defenders in the press box for 75% of the season. Lashoff, maybe, but if he were good enough to be here, he would still be here...

Kindl has kind of redeemed himself in the second half of the season when he's been in. And overall, 5 goals and 13 pts. in 34 games ain't bad. Best case scenario is that someone will take him for a low pick. But between the option of buying him out and letting him ride as a capable backup in the #7 spot, I think Holland will choose to keep him around. We don't have any pressing need for cap-room unless we pickup a UFA and he's only around for 2 more years. If we do want to create cap space Weiss is the one we would need to unload.

After hearing what's happened with Cole, and seeing him put into some posters lineups, do you figure he's worth the risk of resigning (if he's cleared to play next season that is)? Sounds like a serious injury that will most likely haunt him as long as he plays.

I'd say he's definitely worth the risk.

We should be able to re-sign him to a relatively cheap/short term contract that we can always bury on ir if need be.

Even if he's medically good to go, and just not playing well, I'd imagine the majority of his $ would be in some sort of bonus for performance, or reliant on games played.

But if he comes back and hasn't slowed down, we have a cheap, speedy, versatile forward that can score 20 goals while providing that veteran leadership the wings brass loves in spades.

The only potential downside is it keeps a roster spot away from one of the kids...

I miss capgeek so much.

Same here.

If everyone (mostly Mule) is healthy, there really isn't room for Cole. Bringing him back, to me, would make Pulkkinen and Jurco the extra forwards, which I wouldn't want.

Helm-D-Tatar

Abby-Z-Nyquist

Mule-Sheahan-Pulkkinen

Miller-Glen-Weiss

Jurco,

Then again, if Mule's health is questionable or we trade Weiss, I'm all for bringing back Cole if he's cheap and healthy.

Edit: just reread your post and realized you basically said the same thing with your "only potential downside is it keeps a roster spot away from one of the kids..." Guess we just disagree if that a good or bad thing. I think it's fine if we switch Jurco and Pulks in and out of the line-up, but if they both have to wait for injuries to get in, then that's too much of a roadblock for their success in my opinion.
