I'm at region chorus and was helping with the room checks (my kids kicked ass, btw but can't say anything more specific than that until after lunch tomorrow when rankings are announced). What is the short recap?

Another rough 1st for the Wings, followed by strong 2nd and 3rd. Niemi stood on his head through most of the barrage, but Datsyuk beat him with about 6 left in the 3rd and Glendening got the gamewinner with about 1 minute left. PP was awful.

Looks like Smith landed heavily on his shoulder. Odds Couture sees any disciplinary action?

Babcock smile sighting

That's what I thought too. After the play, though, it's hard to tell where he's hurt. He's kind of writhing around and holding his head, but I'm pretty sure his head didn't hit the ice. Hopefully he's alright. It might have just been a "wind knocked out of him" situation.

As of this game I like our defence. KIndl's playing well and contributing offensively. Q has played great this year so hopefully he gets back soon. Ericsson has also improved from his early season struggles. Marchenko has slotted in nicely with Smith.

Also love the Glensyuk backhander!! Sleep!!!

Wow. Dirty as hell, IMHO. That should get a suspension, but I have little confidence in the NHL dept. of player safety (hell, Pronger will probably give style points. Hopefully Smith is O.K. with no concussion symptoms or other damage. Payback next season in spades, I hope, but pulling out the win was a good start. Hopefully McClellan tears him a new one.

Can't recall a game where the opposing goalie stood on his head and the Wings still won (Oops forgot about that game against Luango when he played for the Panthers before he came back there). Besides the 1st period in this game, the Wings seem to be dominating most of the minutes on this road trip.

Remember the October schedule of death? The Wings pulled through that fine.

Remember the February road trip of death? We are 5-3-2 so far in the month of February. If we can pull off a win against Nashville on Saturday, that would be the icing on the cake.

As for the game last night, the Sharks carried the play in the first. They had the first 8 shots on goal. After they scored their 2nd goal in the 2nd period, they stopped playing. The Wings really took it to them in the 3rd. I think the Sharks only got about 8 shots on goal after they scored their 2nd goal. That was through almost half a game.

Howard played great tonight. Losing Smith is going to hurt if he is out for an extended period of time.

Smith fine after being shaken up

General manager Ken Holland said defenseman Brendan Smith is "fine, day to day, nothing serious" after being slew-footed by Logan Couture with 3:57 remaining in regulation and falling hard to the ice. Smith was clutching his head while lying on the ice. A couple of seconds earlier, he was hit in the hand by a shot.
