Sounds like the New York "Islanders" are no more...

Didn't know where else to put this, so this thread fits it.

A Twitter user posted an image of Nick Leddys Minnesota drivers license and a MasterCard debit card with Nicholas Leddy on it. The user also posted images of an unidentified woman posing with Leddy, with derogatory words written over her face and body in Photoshop. The same woman appeared as the avatar on users account.

While the Tweets were later deleted, there were also reports of death threats towards Leddy originating from the account.

The good news is the FBI is investigating it...

What does this all mean?!?!?

Did Leddy sleep with Edelman too?

Anything NY is considered NYC by anyone not from the area.

They don't realize that there's a big ol' state up there.

Anything within 250 miles of NYC is NYC. Look at the Giants in the NFL, they are in Jersey and that's still New York.

Born and raised in Seneca County.

and Buffalo ain't the Finger Lakes region. ;) It's Western NY.

Side note: apparently even NYS Office of Emergency Management doesn't think NYC and Long Island are one and the same. hahaha

They will bury that name, you watch. These logos are a Trojan Horse. Nobody going to Brooklyn to see the Islanders is going to buy an Islander-themed jersey/shirt. They all want to simply identify as Brooklyn. This is just the beginning. I'll guess the fisherman has five years left at sea.

This is how they brand the Nets now on Facebook, one of their front pages to reach their fans:

Not much Nets and I cannot imagine (and I work in this soulless craptastic industry of PR and advertising) the Islander logo as it is, even in new colors withstanding a long run.

Unlike the Nets, the Islanders name and logo actually has history behind it, what the 4 straight Stanley Cups they won in the early 80s, and their intense rivalry with the New York Rangers.

From what I've read, nothing about the Islanders name is changing. Hopefully that's true, and if I were the NHL, I would not approve a name change.
