If helms healthy, I want him on the foirth line.

And did we send Jurco down in your proposed lineup?

Because I imagine wed keep Jurco in over pulks for the playoff considering he already has playoff experience + his size, speed, and how heavy he hits.

Im wondering if Kenny isn`t done and we could see some of these extra forward being moved for a D-Man. Jurco for Petry type deal

SCOUTING REPORT Assets: Has great straight-ahead skating ability and work ethic. Hits anything that moves. Plays a gritty, in-your-face style and owns solid scoring instincts. Leads by example on the ice. Flaws: Over time, his body has broken down due to the punishment that comes with playing a power forward's role. His abrasiveness will continue to be a concern moving forward. Career Potential: Quality veteran power forward.

Did we have anyone we could have described as "Hits anything that moves"? Cole sounds pleasantly gritty to me!

That's why he got traded from Montreal... Because he was playing in your face gritty hockey and was loved bu his coaches... Yeah right...

Jurco for Petry is not going to happen.

I'm sure he's kind of bewildered in a way and once it sets in he'll feel fantastic he was traded to the greatest sports organization in the world :w00t:

Guess I'm one of the weird ones who is okay with what was given up, but just wondering why we haven't added defense first?

Obviously we still could. But that seemed like higher priority and would have been dealt with first...

QFT. My thoughts exactly. How about a move that fills one of our biggest problem areas first. There's tons of forwards in the nhl that could fill the same role, maybe not produce the same but be a body where we need one. I figured if we made a move it could be dallas, seems like the connection with stevie and jim are all kenny's got nowadays. No faith in Holland. Most gms that had a datsyuk would be doing flips to help him win the cup, not here.

I think it's a good deal. I like guys playing in the last year of their contract, because they usually go all out. Cole can play rough and he goes to the net hard. Hope Franzen is feeling better, but I hope the Wings keep him out of the lineup. They play better without him. He's a dog, and very poor defensively.

Janmark is far down on the depth chart. He had very little trade value. A prospect like him is never gonna bring in any high profile players in a trade. We literally gave up no noteworthy prospects, and may get high 3rd round pick in return (with the exception being a fun playoff run if we don't). You have attachment issues to our prospects lol.

Maybe I do but it seems you got no attachment issues and are prepared to give away All of them away except for 2-3 lol ... Is athanasiou larkin mantha ahead of him? Yes ... Doesn't mean janmark won't be a good nhler ... From what I remember we beat a few teams to the punch and selected janmark and it wouldn't surprise me if dallas was one of them(just remember Chicago)

Sorry if I think a 2nd and backman would of been enough for cole ... Just my opinion ... he's a good player but he's 36 and on the decline

Let's just hope cole helps us win the cup and we'll all be happy

Nope, I just realize you have to give up something in a trade to get something back. Cole is a rental. We all know this going in. The team is preparing for a playoff run. We gave up next to nothing in this deal. The 2nd rounder holds more value than either of the two prospects, really. They are 2 long shots and being impact NHLers. Such players hold little trade value.

Give the guy a break, the trade is just 1 hour old now. ;) I always wondered what these kind of interviews are good for. It's almost impossible to make up your mind in time that short.

People will be mad about janmark.

Why? I was reading he got frustrated and went home to Sweden. For the second year in a row Kenny got something in return for a player who was :crybaby:

Edit:

Oh wait, my mistake, Backman went home. Still, Janmark is 22, just like Jarnkrok, he should have played a game or 2 on the Wings by now... Good trade.

Great trade. If you watched the Nashville game yesterday, it was obvious that we need size or we will be worn out in the playoffs. Lately, the game plan against Detroit is to pound them because they are a small team. Cole gives us size and I can't believe how people are crying about the prospects we gave up. There is a good chance that neither of them would have ever played for the Wings. They are both behind so many prospects and we don't have room for half of them. Remember how people screamed last year about losing Calle Jarnkrok? I'm not saying that he doesn't have talent but he has a total of 24 points in 70 games with Nashville so it is not as if he is an impact player. Time will tell but unless the Wings get some size to them, the same thing is going to happen year after year: First or second round exit and the smaller players will disappear.

Good to see that Kenny didn't stand pat.

I've followed Jarnkrok's time with Nashville this year, out of curiosity. They played him under 10 minutes for a good part of the year and he still has better numbers than most teams 4th liners. Just wait, Jarnkrok is far from done.

I, for one, don't understand why Holland routinely pays higher prices than all other teams for his acquisitions. Not only that...youd think we'd get at least a decent deal out of Yzerman or Nill...but it seems like they are more than happy to deal with Holland, and for good reason. Two decent prospects AND a 2nd for a 36 year old UFA? Two years ago the Stars couldn't of gave him away. Jarnkrok, by himself, is an overpayment for Legwand. Quincey was no where near worth a 1st. Everyone knew those things, the prices that were paid last year were 75% of what we gave for Legwand and it's basically the same this year. I've been nervous for a week, basically knowing we'd make a deal and knowing Holland would over pay. Im terrified that we'll get a good defenseman and trade a really good player.

Are we going to resign Cole? It doesn't seem like it the way the roster is built. Everyone knew we wouldn't resign Legwand, and we shouldn't of...and we gave Jarnkrok for him and for a 1st round exit. I don't think we'll resign Cole, and is he really the piece that will put us over the edge? I think the dman that we should get is a bigger deal...and now we have 2 less prospects and Holland's favorite pick to trade off the table. The only guys left to trade are scary ones to lose.

That's just wrong. Adding 2 players (Pulks, Cole) means you have to get rid of 3/4 players (Cleary, Andersson, Weiss/Miller)??????????

Well I can't think of our exact lineup now but I know we got a lot of bottom players

Tatar datsyuk helm

Nyquist zetterberg abdelkader

Pulkkinen sheahan cole

Franzen glendening miller

Weiss/cleary/Andersson gone possibly gone ... Realize one can stay as the 13th guy but we might give a kid a chance? Franzen might also be gone still ... So you may be right ... Anythings possible

Yea the 2nd rounder hurts a little but getting back a 3rd makes it alot better. Especially when Chicago had go give up a 1st for Vermette. We didn't give up our 1st or any of our top Forward or Defensive prospects to get a player that rounds out our top 6. Amazing deal. Edited by Datsyukian-Deke
