That's because he is a 4th line scrub :ninja:

We all need scrubs come playoffs? Lol

Don't get me wrong not pissed we didn't get him but for a 4th rounder it's not bad

They'll both be in Dallas's lineup in 2 yrs ... We see what they do after

Good for them. They wouldn't be in Detroit for years, if ever. So you're angry that Holland traded them, despite the fact that they had no chance at an NHL career in Detroit? He gave them a better opportunity to play in the NHL.

I like it. Cole should help play near the crease, which is something I wanted. And we didn't give up too much to get him. Backman made his own bed, so I'm not heart broken about that. Janmark is a good prospect with a lot of upside, but you've got to give to get. I remember when we traded Jarnkrok and sudden he became a "bust" that was too small, or too Euro, or too far down the depth chart. None of that is true, and isn't about Janmark either. But if he had no value, I doubt Nill would have wanted him. This helps us now, without sacrificing much later. I'm fine with it.

Have you seen what other teams are paying this year?

This is a fair deal both ways.

And we had to make room for all the centers we drafted last year to come into the system.

Holmstrom, ehn, vahatalo, kadeykin, and turgeon.

Janmark isn't worth all this griping.

I didn't even feel the need to gripe about the Legwand deal last year. I knew it had to happen, and Holland was dealing from a weak position at the time. The deal was made to preserve the playoff streak, so it was what it was. While I was ok with the deal, I understood why people didn't like it. Seeing a couple people react the same way to this trade is absolutely mind blowing lol. Was a great move.

#62 will just make him look bigger, just ask Big Rig ;)

Like I said before I like cole and he's the guy I wanted us to get ... Also didn't think he would cost us this much though ... He could be a complete bust but i liked janmarks upside and even though our prospect pool is high doesn't mean we should just give them away for older ufa's

What's funny is just today on twitter I was going on to someone about how I hope janmark convinces backman to come down fulltime next year and now there both gone lol

You keep referencing his age, but I don't see how this is relevant considering he is about to be a UFA. How good is going to be next year or 2 years from now is meaningless. All that matters is how well will he perform in the next 3 months. His injury history is a bit concerning, but this was low risk so I don't see what the big deal is. You cant get something for nothing.

FLA just got Jagr for a 2nd and a 3rd. Is Cole better than Jagr? Even if you think so...are Backman and Janmark worth more than a 3rd?

Just because they wouldn't of been here ahead of mantha athanasiou larkin doesn't mean he couldn't of been a top 6 nhl player ... Could of been part of a package for a player who's not 36 and a ufa ... My main beef

Whatever it's done now can't do anything about it but at least we got the guy I wanted to get

You're overrating their value. A lot. Would be different if they were in the AHL and playing well. But that is not the case.

Glad your acknowledging he at least has upside and how jarnkrok all of a sudden was a nothing prospect when we gave up up to some people here ... I'm sure Nill targeted janmark and not Kenny offering him up

Cole will help us though ... Let's just hope at least helm is with us come playoff time and hopefully Franzen then we'll be really deep on 4 lines

We need a D man....

This. why are we wasting assets on players we don't need... we have loads of guys that can step into our fwd group. when helm and z get healthy we won't have room for one of pulks/jurco as well as andersson.

Our D is a disaster and we could have used that 2nd in a package for a dman.

No.

Noone wouldve given us a third rounder for those two right now, so no. They are not worth a third.

And in the grand scheme of things, of course jagrs better than cole, he's fifth in all time scoring.

But Coles got more points this year, is more physical, and is faster.

I don't think he sounds disappointed or anything, it sounds like he JUST found out. Plus, he doesnt want to sound happy about leaving Dallas. You dont want to piss off the fans of the old team.

At least .. But we would have to get rid of weiss so salary matches which is why I don't think it'll happen .... Would you do weiss and smith for Phaneuf? And would the leafs do it? I doubt it

Weiss doesn't HAVE to go the other way. Shedding Kindl clears up all the cap space we'd need. Weiss could be moved in summer if we need to shed salary. His contract is very tradable. Hard to say who goes the other way. How much salary retained would dictate the value of getting Phaneuf. I also just realized this is the Cole threat and not the Trade deadline thread so feel free to discuss this further there if you want.

Yay Cole! Because topic.
