Quincy is hurt right now...ankle issues...they had said may require surgery.

For the time being he likely remains out.

He's expected back this week and the doctors said he could wait until the off season for surgery. Expect Quincey back in the lineup where he belongs.

Well two things to remember, helm and marchenko out for a week to ten days, two we have no limit on the players we carry on roster, soo with that said when marchenko gets back expect kindl and quinsy to be waived or scratched, kronner-e,D-zidSmith, marchenkoSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where did Quincey go?

Edit: lol. Scratched or waived huh? Priceless.

Would like to see them rest Quincey a few games and roll with....

Kronner-Smith

DD-Zid

Ericsson-Marchenko

Gives Smith a little more responsibility; hopefully he runs with it.

DD-Zid I have a feeling would be a great pairing.

And Ericsson on the bottom pairing gives Marchenko more of a veteran presence.

I think it's at least worth a try like that. If Quincey needs some more rest anyway.

Marchenko is injured. Out at least a week.

So...who's the odd man out when all our defensemen are healthy - Smith or Marchenko?

Kronwall Smith/Marchenko

DeKeyser Quincey

Ericsson Zidlicky

I guess it'd have to be Marchenko, but he's been so steady. This is what Babcock loves - competition, players having to "grab their cheese."

EDIT: Forgot about Ouellet. Though, I have to think Marchenko has surpassed him on the depth chart, if only by a little bit.

I don't think its that close, not only does marchenko being a righty give him the edge, but it also makes the player to the left of him play that Much better. also, I thought Marchy did a really good job in the little time he played up on the top pair with kronwall. Oulette needs to play in the NHL to get better and realize his potential, but marchenko has gotten consistently better every game he plays, he already looks like a top four d man to me.

Oulette didn't look out of place in the lineup, but IMO he doesn't have the potential, marchenko has.

Marchenko has looked solid the same way that most of our defensive prospects look solid when they're brought up: they do they're best to stay out of trouble, don't bring much attention to themselves, and occasionally do something offensively. And of course Marchenko looks a bit better than Oulette because he's right-handed, which gives us a new dimension. But for as much flak LGW gives Smith, he's solidly on a level above all of Oulette, Marchenko, Lashoff, Kindl, and any other defensive prospect we currently have. And Marchenko's right-handedness isn't enough of an advantage for me to trust him over Smith in the playoffs.

We're essentially upgrading our right-handed defender from someone with no experience, to someone with quite a lot of experience.

But oh my gosh our defensive depth: Kindl, Lashoff, Oulette, Marchenko, maybe even Sproul all NHL-ready. That's almost a whole defensive team of players we aren't dressing.

Now I may be way off base, but I love how Marchenko more than any other Dman (except Smith?) jumps up on the rush.

He's also not afraid to let it fly from the point. I like that. Too many others seem intent on cycling more than Lance Armstrong on his way to his blood doper.

People saying Zidlicky is small and can't play defense, he can play defense. But that's not really why he is here. He is here because he can make the first pass out of the defensive zone, knows how to quarterback a powerplay, and has a right-handed shot. Not all of our defensemen need to be shut down defensmen. Sure it's great to get a guy that can do both but those guys aren't available without giving up the farm.

This...... Zidlicky is probably going to play on the 2nd or 3rd pairing, playing minimal minutes, and is going to be on the point with the big RH shot on the PP that everyone has been hoping for since the start of the season. And for once in quite a while, he came cheap! He can only help the PP which as bad is it started in the beginning of the season, is the best in the NHL right now. So looking forward to the game on Wednesday even though it is on NBCSN.

Exactly. He's here for a very specific role. He will provide what Smith and Kindl were supposed to provide.
