Holland said Helm and Marchenko both have bit of oblique strain. Nothing serious. Out a week or so.

Thank god... Could have been much worse

I hope he's back vs. Philly... if only to end the Glendening experiment a day earlier.

I love Mike Babcock, but it's pretty messed up that I'm hoping that Darren Helm returns to take up his role on a scoring line over LUKE GLENDENING.

Yeah, I just don't understand that decision at all. Glendening is an excellent 4th line center but doesn't belong anywhere in the top six.

I viewed that more along the lines of a message to the guys you would think would hold down that spot (Weiss, Jurco). .... "You're not playing well enough to keep a 4th line center from taking your top six winger spot. At least this guy works hard and provides energy/effort for his linemates. That's more than you are providing. Start producing. Stop sucking."

Nicely put. The really sad part is that he's produced more than the others had/ yes in a smaller time frame but still says something

I'm for whatever configuration of players helps us win. If Luke can do that better on the first than the fourth, I'm fine with it. I'm skeptical he could keep it up. But if he did, I'd stick with what works. Seems like all too often we want the team to win, but specifically with the guys we like contributing in the ways we want. But that's wrong headed. If we were a better team with Luke on the first and Tatar on the fourth, then that's what we ought to do.

I would.

The fourth line needs to not be Miller - Andersson - Jurco/

This. I want him on the fourth line not because I hate him on the first, but because he makes the fourth so much better. There was one point where I thought we had an incredible fourth line when I watched them match up against other teams', now I cringe whenever they're out there. Edited by Wheelchairsuperhero

If Glendenning produces a point every other game on a line with datsyuk, would anyone object to him staying there?

Yes. His goal in the two games there was a fluke. I don't have anything against Glendening, but Babs putting a player in a position they don't belong isn't new or less infuriating this time around. Play your 4th line minutes and kill penalties. I don't care how hard he plays -- you gotta have some skill to be Datsyuk's winger.

I'm aware the chances are that he won't continuously put up points.

My question was, if he put up a point every other game, would you object to him staying there.

I get that it seems crazy to have a prototypical 4th line c as a first line winger, I understand that.

If he scores or is directly involved the scoring at a .50 ppg was the context of the question.

Whether or not it was a fluke that he scored, or a soft goal, or any other knock against him being on datsyuks wing is irrelevant.

I guess I'm still sticking with my objection to Glendening there because I don't think there's any way in hell he produces at that rate. I get it's hypothetical, but how realistic is it for Glendening to actually pull that off? Couldn't you hypothetically ask that about Weiss, Pulkkinen or Joakim Andersson too? I don't think any of them are great choices obviously.

The Wings have enough depth at forward where they don't need a 4th liner to "play hard" on the wing of Pavel Datsyuk.
