^^ Yup all valid points I was making. I rarely use the refs as excuses and I am not because we were clearly outplayed last night for a good 75% of that game. I'm sure we've all been watching Wings hockey for a long time but when you see something that bad, people shouldn't act like I commited a sin for pointing out the douchey love for a team that has only 2 more points than we do right now. How about talking about the 24th straight playoff appearance and not talk about Sheppard on 4 separate occasions? They hyped up Talbot(deservedly so) too and maybe should've mentioned Mrazek for doing the same thing when Jimmy went down.

So me calling you "not a fan" was a valid point or did you just make that up?

The only valid point you made was that the announcers were for the Rangers, to which my counter to that was, it had no bearing on the game's outcome. The other point you made about the refs being the Rangers pocket was debunked by facts.

I just stated my list of reasons for my comment regarding announcers, analysts and a handful of missed calls by the refs. I am not some lame fan that yells out Bettman conspiracy night in and night out. So don't put me in that category as "that" type of fan and no need to reply to me. The "valid" points post was towards JoesuffP and not you. You don't agree that's great. Have a nice day.

I counted no less than 5 times that the RD'd stick stop the puck at the blueline where a leftie would've had a harder time doing so. Not to mention the GWG as flukey as it was, a LH'd shot would've have had to backhand it or try to bring it back to the forehand giving the Rags an extra second to get into better position. Genius move by Holland, instant dividend! Not even Yandle nor Phanuef would have been able to get that shot off any smoother. Cole looked good, a bit nervous, but had some good shots on goal. Nobody wants to see the Wings in the 1st round, that's for sure!

Ok, fair enough. Next time quote the post you are talking about. I thought you were addressing me when you said I was saying you were not a fan.

I'm enjoying Rangers fan tears in my coffee this morning. Mmmmm, good to the last snivel:

*Babcock and the Red Wings are the NHL's version of Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. Coached meticulously to gain every legal and illegal advantage possible. The crunch-time holding/embellishing stunt from Nyquist is just classic Red Wings hockey, just like every Brady overthrown ball ends up as pass interference when the Pats receiver grabs the CB's arm and dives to the ground.

*The Rangers were the better team last night. If the Wings were forced to play by the same rules as the rest of the league, that game would have been 6-1, and the Rangers would have had 60 SOG.

*wings are really good at embellishing--its incredibly sickening... you can tell how inferior they are to the rangers watching them play

*On another note, Detroit's system is infuriating. They commit so much interference it's maddening. Any time you try and dump and chase or use the speed to get around someone, they're stepping in your lane and making contact. Literally committing penalties the entire game, that's why I can't take any Wings fan seriously when they complain about the refs. Their team is committing holds and hooks and interference all game long. I mean, I get it especially against the Rangers, try and slow us down. But still, it's maddening. Clutch and grab era stuff.

Nestle should bottle this stuff it's so tasty. RangersFansTears Hazelnut Flavor would be my favorite.

I was addressing you and I felt like you were dismissing me as a Bettman Conspiracy complainer when I rarely say anything about refereeing on this awesome forum. I didn't feel I need to quote because I didn't expect fast replies back right away from other people. I just stated what I saw last night and that I didn't like a lot of it. You don't have to agree with me and I'd rather not argue. Enjoy the day and let's hope we can enjoy the next Red Wing win next game! Go Wings!

@Other fellow New Jersey dweller: That is some butthurt forum over there. They still got a point and are really playing well. That's hockey. If they would've won they definitely would've deserved it. How many shootouts have we lost after thoroughly outplaying our opponent? We did play a good 3rd period though. Give some credit. Geez.

If you guys want some afternoon entertainment, read the butt hurt reaction by Rags fans on the game last night, its the most hilarious thing I have ever seen.

If you want some afternoon entertainment, read the butt hurt posts on this GDT right up until the Stepan penalty. *Spoiler Alert* They are almost identical to the Rangers complaining.

We're no different than anybody else. And if we'd lost that game instead of won it, you can be absolutely sure that the refs would be to blame. Not the 50,000 times we turned the puck over in the defensive zone, or the fact that we looked like we were skating in mud.

how do most of you feel about our "subtle" interference? I notice that the wings seem to do it A LOT. however I don't scrutinize and watch the other team as closely all the time.

We do it. A lot. But I don't think, when people point it out, that they're ragging on the Wings. They're just being matter of fact about it. We're a smallish team. How the hell else are guys like Nyquist, Tatar, Dats, Z, Helm, Weiss, etc. supposed to play defense? Body the other team up and punish them physically?

The Wings are entitled to that spot on the ice as much as the opponent. It's called positioning and it's an important part of the game. The whining is just jockeying by coaches to get calls, but it is mischaracterizing the play and strategy which is entirely valid.

from the rule book:

A player is allowed the ice he is standing on (body position) and is not required to move in order to let an opponent proceed. A player may “block” the path of an opponent provided he is in front of his opponent and moving in the same direction. Moving laterally and without establishing body position, then making contact with the non-puck carrier is not permitted and will be penalized as interference. A player is always entitled to use his body position to lengthen an opponent’s path to the puck, provided his stick is not utilized (to make himself “bigger” and therefore considerably lengthening the distance his opponent must travel to get where he is going); his free hand is not used and he does not take advantage of his body position to deliver an otherwise illegal check.

As a side note - Lids was the king of using his stick to make himself "bigger" as is now forbidden in the rule. He would just hold his stick parallell to the ice in front of him.

If fans and AV feel the Wings are the only team that use "subtle interference" then they are delusional. Every team uses every edge they can get away with to win. Its not like the Rangers see the Wings and say "We are to high and mighty to interfere at all". They do the exact same thing. Once a team sees that another is getting away with something they to go right to using that advantage.

It's a funny thing that every team in the league does it but we only hear about the Wings doing it. And we usually hear it on NBC.

Exactly I don't understand why people complain about it. The wings are entitled to their spot on the ice. Every team does this, but yet the wings get pointed out for it the most. I saw a two on two yesterday where the rangers player passed the pucked as contact was made and continued to push the wings defender towards the boards. Nothing was said about that subtle interference.

If you watch the western conference games its something that happens all the time.

All the teams we dominated for years learned to do it, and they do it wayyy more than we do now.

Love how many of them are saying our 2 goals were lucky. Perhaps, but so was their goal, if it even should have counted at all.

And I know people ***** around here about interference, but thats pretty well ALL they're talking about. That and how they can't wait to destroy us if we meet in the playoffs. Awww they mad.
