My Ideal Playoff Situation

Recommended Posts

OKKK guys and girls, I was thinking about the playoffs, and right now we have 2 games on montreal , 4 points back and 3 games on tampa, 1 point back, now the race for the second wild card spot is getting closer and closer, MY ideal situation would be the sens catch boston, take them out, and we take first, get healthy, and vs the sens. My second ideal situation would be we take first and vs florida, and my third would be we take 2nd and vs tampa. I dont want to vs the bruins, I say this beacuse I dont feel like the checking and and how they finish their checks are really going to bang us up even if we beat them itl take a toll on us for the second round. With saying this tampa and montreal scare me as well...so whats your guys thoughts/situations.

Whatever happens, I kind of want the Red Wings to play either Capitals or Penguins at some point. I'm really interested to see the Malkin/Crosby vs Datsyuk/Zetterberg in 2015 (7 years later). Also I'd like to see if Zetterberg can shutdown Ovetckin. He's shutdown Toews and Crosby before, would be interesting to see what he could do against the best goal scorer.

Z steps his game up like few others in the playoffs, but no ones going to shut ovechkin down completely in a seven game series.

He's too fast and strong, hell eventually get tired of being a non factor and go all out. Hopefully tiring himself out before he scores.

Exactly, and if there is anyone on the roster who could do it, it's Z. Plus, it doesnt have to go to a 7 game series. Would be a hell of a matchup tho. And if he does shut him down even if partial, would add some good pride and energy for the fans moving forwards into playoff rounds.

He always does a great job shadowing the high end guys, Malkin, Crosby, toews etc.

He is an awesome player, and in the playoffs he's on another level.

My ideal playoff situation is we go in 100% healthy and on fire. Let the other cards fall where they will.

My ideal playoff situation is we hoist Lord Stanley, bottle the tears of all the butt hurt fans we beat along the way and then all of lgw gets together at the captains house with yzerman and lidstrom and everyone else and we have a huge butt pat party!

And Gordie however himself pours the spiked bottled tears down the ice slide into our mouths, while handing out stem cells

And for some reason Darren McCarty brings Claude lemieux and we get to watch them fight in the living room.

Revenge to teams we have lost to? Pens, Bruins, Rangers, Montreal, and then maybe Chicago

The Bruins - even much worse than last year - aren't a good matchup for this team. Boston simply is too big and physical imposing but man a Lucic - Cole fight would be nice.

If Boston makes it they'll go on fire and with their new CEO calling management and players out they'll have something to prove..so Boston alongside Tampa would absolutely be a bad matchup. Pittsburgh will depend on if the best player in the world shows up or not...

I think the islanders, caps would be a more favorable matchup.

For me a perfect scenario would be to face Boston first round, Pittsburgh second round, third round don't care, then Chicago in the finals. Or if not Chicago then San Jose or Nashville :)

There is no strategy to this, its simply payback!

If im going off of strategy, I would like us to get Florida or Ottawa in the first.

I didn't really want to start a new thread for this and this place seemed as good as any...

I really hope Ottawa overtake that 2nd Wild Card spot over Boston. They're currently only 4 points behind with a game in hand and they play tonight in Ottawa. Huge game. Go Sens!

Ottawa - 13 GR - 79 PTS

Ottawa seem to have an easier schedule down the stretch, with 8 of their remaining 13 games at home and 3 games against Toronto (easy 6 points lol).

Schedule: BOS, TOR, SJS, NYR, @TOR, FLA, @DET, TBL, WSH, @TOR, PIT, @NYR, @PHI

Boston - 12 GR - 83 PTS

Boston only have 4 of their remaining 12 games at home, and two of those are against Tampa and one against Anaheim.

Schedule: @OTT, @FLA, @TBL, ANA, NYR, @CAR, FLA, @DET, TOR, @WSH, @FLA, @TBL

We play both teams in the next couple weeks, so I'm hoping for an overtime win against Ottawa on March 31st (I'd even take an overtime loss if I knew it wouldn't affect our seeding and Ottawa ended up needing 1 point to pass Boston at the end of the season...) and a regulation win against Boston on April 2nd...

Both teams have been playing very well of late, but Ottawa have been unbelievable. And it all starts with the goaltending they're getting from Hammond. Where the hell did this kid come from? Great story. I really hope they get in...
