joesuffP 1,746 Report post Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) This is a myth that Howard has struggled in the playoffs. We haven't had the team to go anywhere and so we didn't. Howard hasn't been the problem in years past. He was bad in a couple games against Boston. In a crucial game 4 where we deserved to win and he crumbled in the third. He's paid 5M a year he should be one of our best players. We can't afford to lose games because of goaltending when we put forth a great effort. I'm not a Howard hater but I admit I have a very "what have you done lately" mindset. I'll admit Howard was our best player on our playoff run two years ago but last year he was part of the problem with untimely soft goals Edited March 9, 2015 by joesuffP 1 chaps80 reacted to this

kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted March 9, 2015 I was pretty anti-Howard back when we still had Lidstrom. But after his playoff performance in 2013, I was pretty impressed by Jimmys play, he was def the MVP end of that season and post season. Point is, Jimmy has it in him. He has A LOT of weak points, but he is pretty solid overall. I think Mrazek is the alpha to his omega. Mrazek is strong at things Jimmy is weak at (puck movement, closing off tight gaps when players come around the corner, etc). I believe both of them will complement each other very well and could be a dynamic duo after this season if we let Gus walk. Babcock could easily use Mrazek over Jimmy with certain teams that he believes they need a 3rd defenseman moving the puck around with. 2 e_prime and roboturner reacted to this

Euro_Twins 4,471 Report post Posted March 9, 2015 Guess I'm thinking of game 3 You mean the one where Jimmy let in two in the first and then the wings didn't score a goal all game and Boston won 3-0 with an en at the end of the game. Ya really fell apart in the third. 2 The Greek and captain2005 reacted to this

Howard hasn't been the problem in years past. Howard's playoff #'s are good, but they don't tell the whole story. Some of the goals he would allow were absolute back breakers when the team needed a timely save. 1 chaps80 reacted to this

He played out of his mind. Consistancy is his problem. 2 Hockeymom1960 and marcaractac reacted to this
Datsyukian-Deke 722 Report post Posted March 10, 2015 I'm pretty sure Mrazek has to stay up next year or be put on waivers to be put back down in GR so it absolutely is Gus' last year.
