Oh I thought it was just NTC. Thanks for pointing that out. But either way, I wouldn't expect him to anyway.. just think it could do him some good long term.

yea I could see him scratched for cleary in the playoffs

Aye but we have a plethora of centers at this point. Zet, Pav, Weiss, Sheahan, Glendening, Helm. All perm roster spots too. Also losing Andersson on penalty kill doesn't mean babbers can't use someone else. We have plenty of players who can kill penalties. Hell even Franzen was killing em in 2013 (and did pretty well too actually).

All technically accurate points. Here are some others...

Weiss sucks balls at hockey now.

Babcock no longer considers Helm a center.

So, that does still leave Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Sheahan, and Glendening... but not having Andersson in the lineup would restrict flexibility, which is something that Babcock clearly values (i.e. if Datsyuk and Zetterberg are both forced to play center, they can't be on the same line, etc.).

I don't think Babcock ever said he no longer considers Helm a center

weiss on the 4th line is useless. the emergence of sheahan has made weiss expendable. if they thought sheahan would be this far a long this fast they never would have signed weiss. so sheahan is our problem. :)

well would you rather have jurco or cleary on that fourth line for the PO because Anderrson sounds expendable for me too

Babcock just tells Pierre a bunch of useless information. He knows like every hockey fan knows that Pierre is useless and carries no credibility. I thought everyone here at LGW knew that already though. :D

I can't stand the guy but let's not get carried away here, Pierre knows a ton about Hockey and the players, more so than anyone on LGW would ever know.

Dudes a walking encyclopedia.

His knowledge is ridiculous....

He gives off on tangents talking about who random players were on a line with in peewee hockey, I don't necessarily like him, or dislike him, but he is realllllllllyyyyyyy knowledgeable.

Great win yesterday. Its always fun for me to see the Wings beat the Pens and even nicer when its 5-1. I'd be mad about all the crap the Pens pulled yesterday, but honestly, that's all expected. When you play them, you know you're going to get that kind of sportsmanship or lack thereof. They've developed a reputation as being this whiny, emotional, uncontrollable team that loses their composure as soon as things start to go south for them. What's really tough for them is the type of coach they need is the type of coach Crosby, Malkin and others won't want to play for. Its a tough spot.

Fortunately, for us, we have a great group of guys, good mix of young and old. Mrazek was great yesterday, but he was terrible the last time he played in Pittsburgh, so let's all keep that in mind before we go banging the drum for Howard's departure. As far as I'm concerned they both need to work on their consistency. Pulkkinen should never wear a GR Griffins jersey again and we need to find Zidlicky the fountain of youth and keep this guy around as long as we can. On that 3rd goal, I think he broke the space time continuum. I thought I saw the puck hit the back of the net before he actually shot it. I was kind of whatever when we acquired him, but now I can't imagine our blueline without him.

If you're having a bad day or just need a smile, ask Siri "Who won the Red Wings Penguins game?" I've done it like 10 times yesterday and today, it never gets old hearing "The Red Wings crushed the Penguins by a score of 5-1."

Kerry Fraser's take on the game (TSN.ca):

Wes McCauley is a patient referee with very sound judgment. He is not one to overreact. I can guarantee that there was way too much being said from the penalty box, the players' bench and on the ice by the Penguin players that resulted in the unsportsmanlike conduct and misconduct penalty that was assessed to Kunitz at the end of the period. There was absolutely no need for Kunitz to go out of his way to slide the puck in the direction of referee McCauley who was standing at the Zamboni entrance waiting to exit the ice. When players engage in excessive whining and complaining, as it appeared the Penguins did in the first period, the referee will stop the 'drip' and shut off the tap by imposing a penalty. Teams can develop a reputation for whining no differently than players do for diving and embellishment.

The Penguins have earned the undesirable reputation with several of the referees for having too much to say. As a team, they need to turn off the tap on their own as they move toward the playoffs. The referees' patience has already worn thin.

Side note: How terrible is their music selection? If that's fitting for their audience, then the average Pens' Fan is a 15y old girl with an pink Iphone...

True. But I also dislike our stupid "All I do is win win win" song. It's old, annoying and it's not even epic enough to play and overplay as much as the Joe has. They need to get another more epic win song already.

Man Babs must have really ripped off the door on Saturday and rightfully so..This team is like wonderland you'll never know what result you'll get.

I'm sure they got ripped pretty hard by Babs after the previous few losses. I think the difference maker was Z publicly calling out the team after Philly.

I don't think it was a Babs factor. He's known to get fits of rages on team and whether or not it's effective is a hit or miss. I linked an article a few posts up. Z basically said they called a "players only" meeting and said "enough is enough". I also think Z "indirectly" called the team out publicly this past weekend. Makes sense if you think about it. A guy as calm and down to earth as Z calling out his team, the players probably realized sh*ts really got to change.

One of the funniest things I've read in the past couple days is that the Pens' coach talked to Downie before the game about avoiding penalties...he then goes and piles on 22 minutes.

Gotta wonder if they'll regret the signing or like it. I understand bringing him in, but so far this year, the sense I get from their fan base is that he's been a net negative for them. It will all depend on what happens in the playoffs though. I've I'm them, I'm thinking I really need that type of player for the playoffs, but I'm also worried about him taking penalties which could kill them at the wrong time in the playoffs. That type of player you will expect penalties due to the type of game he plays, but I don't think they were expecting the volume of stupid and useless penalties he's taken so far.
