barabbas16 499 Report post Posted March 15, 2015 I'm just glad they actually got somebody above 50 points on the season this year... 1 KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 reacted to this
Euro_Twins 4,469 Report post Posted March 16, 2015 It looks like the lead league will fall well below 100 points too this year, with datsyuk averaging over a point per game has he played every game this year he may have challenged for the league lead. 1 kickazz reacted to this

Yeah I've thought about this earlier as well. I don't think Datsyuk would have been able to keep up a PPG for a whole season though.
kipwinger 8,458 Report post Posted March 16, 2015 Martin St. Lois did at the same age. Although, he was playing with stamkos at the time.
Euro_Twins 4,469 Report post Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) Martin St. Lois did at the same age. Although, he was playing with stamkos at the time. Also the lockout season. So it was really only 48 games, so he scored 60 in 48, and was a year older than dats is now. very impressive no matter how you slice it. jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted March 17, 2015 Pavel will probably be one of those players who hovers around a ppg until he retires, he's too smart a player for his production to drop off that much.

Agreed. I believe Z will as well (maybe not 1 PPG but around .92-.95 PPG or so). Except Z is much more streaky in his production, he goes on mini goal scoring bouts to practically none. His assists tend to be streaky too but they are mildy consistent. Funny thing is, Z has always been that way, even when he was a 30+ goal scorer. KATIEBARTHEDOOR24 426 Report post Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) My vote went to Tots but... Why no Goose? Edited March 17, 2015 by KATIEBARTHEDOOR24
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted March 17, 2015 My vote went to Tots but... Why no Goose? Was thinking about it but Gus was hovering on 3rd line so thought that him surpassing Z and Pav cud be a stretch. Tat's been getting fed well by Pav so it seemed plausible. Now that Gus is back on Z's line there's a possibility he could start racking em up. Who knows.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted March 18, 2015 Pulkk will surpass both of them in the next weeks, setting a record for most goalies killed.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted March 18, 2015 With 14 games to go, it doesn't seem possible for either Gus or Tats to catch up (10pts behind). It will depend on whoever stays healthier is my bet. With D missing the next 2 games and Z already 1pt up, my guess is that Z will lead the team in scoring, but he's more streaky, but has remained fairly healthy this year. Well z has been pretty Damn consistent about putting up points all year. He has however been streaky with goal scoring though
number9 3,297 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 I miss the days when Z was considered a sniper. In the 2008/2009 playoffs he was a shooting machine. I see Nyquist walking that same path now. Hopefully his post shooting days are as productive as Z's
chaps80 1,591 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 I miss the days when Z was considered a sniper. In the 2008/2009 playoffs he was a shooting machine. Yeah, it sucks how our star players are in their mid-30's, and other teams stars are in their early-mid 20's. But I guess thats what happens when you have a consistantly good team for along time. Lots of low draft picks who take time to develop, rather than high picks like Crosby, Oveckin, Kane, etc. who are ready to jump right in and contribute alot right after they leave junior. Were damn lucky Z and Dats ended up being the late round gems they were.
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted April 12, 2015 Welp. Guess I'll update the thread. After 82 games in the season the scoring leader for 2014/2015 season is Henrik Zetterberg with 66 points. Datsyuk comes in close with 65. Voters seemed to favor Datsyuk with 40 votes to Zetterberg's 26 votes. This is the 3rd time Zetterberg has been the scoring leader for the Red Wings since coming into the league (3 times in the past 5 years). Pavel Datsyuk has finished as scoring leader 6 times (1 time in the past 5 years). They both had tied with 70 points in the 2009/2010 season. These points don't account for games played only total accumulation of points. Hopefully these two continue to lead the scoring even as they age in the years to come! My money is on Datsyuk being top scorer in the 2015/2016 season. Onwards to the playoffs!
