Losing Streak affecting Babcock's Decision?

Have a link for that?

Most recent player poll I know of is from 2012. At that time, Babs was 3rd in "coach you would most like to play for".

Yeah, I see that now after looking for it. I do remember reading a valid source stating player's don't like Babs... But yeah, can't seem to find it so I guess its a moot point.

I did see a ton of articles with reporters asking how Babcock feels about players not coming to play in Detroit, and that he may be a factor. The "you want to be coached, come to Detroit" line

Does anybody know when Capuano's expires with The islanders? In an interview I heard Babcock speak about all the family connections he has with the Islanders. They are a skilled team ready to take the next step.... Could be a good fit. He can only wait for the D to improve so long before giving up.

Great point I haven't even thought about them as a destination, new owners with tons of $ and and upcoming team.

Babcock will need to hire someone to answer his phones because it will be ringing 24/7 after the season *gg*

Only polls I've seen said they'd want to play for him and another that said he was tough. Bosses who expect a lot tend to get a lot out of their employees.

Coaching is the LAST problem with the Wings. It's the Defense! Plain and simple! We have ONE .... one top four D man. The rest are all 5,6,7s. Danny will be there but he has no mentor as Kronner is fried. It is the D!

Ok so a D man who has 29 points, and is a +12 is not a top four D man? Sure DD has had a couple bad games, but I have no idea what games you watch to consider him only a top 6 D man.

Maybe 10 years is long enough, Blashill is the age now what Babs was when he came in and he's had a great 3 years in GR. Although we have repeatedly thought and said Babs wouldn't go to the Leafs, never say never.

I disagree with this. It's not the D's fault that the forwards constantly turn over the puck. It's not the D's fault that the forwards can't forcheck. It's not the D's fault that the forwards can't make, or take a pass to save their life. It's not the D's fault that the team can't win a faceoff this month.

The D is weak, no doubt about it, but it's far from the only problem.

It's a big problem, sure, but the Wings have holes everywhere. I still not sure if the whole balanced lines thing (skill, big body, speed) is the way the game is changing or if it's just a Babcock thing, but the lineups always look like a Frankenstein-style monster. If it's a Babcock thing, he might need to leave. If the game is just changing to where each line has an anchor, he should stay because he's still getting quite a lot out of our young guys.

But at the end of the day wins matter, and like someone else pointed out, aside from '07, '08 and '09 we haven't won much or had impressive seasons. I think the dump and chase style Babcock has been having them play is the biggest culprit. I remember back in '09 he said dump and chase was stupid, but now that's all we do, and as a result we get a shot on net and then rush back to defend. Every. Freaking. Time. And I think we have talented enough players to carry it into the zone. His system has all but killed our offense over the years.

That's the thing, though, we went to dump and chase because of our extreme trouble in carrying the puck in. This was especially a problem a few years ago.

The "balenced" lines are partly Babcock, but Abby on the top line/Zetterberg's line is Datsyuk's doing and that has worked out quite well. Not sure why you think we have "an anchor" on every line. I assume you're refering to Helm and he was great up there before his injury. Also, he would be on the 3rd line if Franzen or Cole were healthy.

DD is a top two dman lets be honest he makes great plays can put up points kill penalties and shut down stars if babs ever put him with Kronwall that be our best pair since Lids and Rafs Kronwall is top two to for all the same reasons his partner just brings him down

We got Mantha AA Larkin lil Bertuzzi Cally Ferraro and we'll get a big forward or dman this year we'll have plenty of size and speed when the Datsyuk era ends

Agreed. Anybody who thinks that Dekeyser isn't a top four defenseman is nuts. The guy plays over 20 minutes a night, in all situations, against top opposition, AND puts up points. Not sure what he'd have to do to be a top four that he isn't already doing.

Here is how I see it:

Top 1,2 D:

Webber, Suban, Keith, Doughty, Kronner.... (

3, 4 guys

Yandle, Letang, Hedman, Pitrangelo ....

I love Danny & I think he will get there but I don't think he contributes at a similar level to the above

On teams with a shot they are

They would barely be 3-4 guys if they were all on the same team. Those are all top pairing.

Maybe Crosby Tavares and toews are top 3 forward and Malkin stamkos and Seguin are 2nd liners, which makes datsyuk a goalie
