Wings GM Ken Holland said F Erik Cole will miss the next three games with an upper body injury. Cole will be evaluated again next week.

Also a Kronwall update:

Just spoke to Wings GM Ken Holland .He said Niklas Kronwall is day-to-day. Has lower body injury and was kept out Tue. as precaution.

Hope this means Weiss is back in.

It's looking like Pavel could be back against the Sharks tomorrow. That said, I'd still rather see Weiss in the line-up over Andersson. Babcock must really hate the man.

Ken Holland also said F Pavel Datsyuk (lower body injury) is close to returning. May play tomorrow vs. Sharks.

All I got out of this thread was Datsyuk might be back tomorrow. It sucks having Kronwall and Cole out, but having Datsyuk in the lineup has more of an impact than any other player on the roster by far, and the Datsyuk impact is something this team desperately needs right now.

Dan Cleary will come in and be our best player in the playoffs. He'll do it on heart alone. Because that's what he does. And while we won't win the Cup, the long playoff run will be exactly what Mike Babcock needs to become the highest paid coach in the NHL. He'll enter next season at the top of the mountain, ready to bring his revolutionary new message to the team.

The message?

Try harder. Try like Dan.

I haven't gotten to watch a lot of games the second half of the season, but I just can't imagine what Weiss did so badly to justify being permanently benched. Not every player can be 100% defensively sound at all times. We're close to becoming (if we haven't already become) the Minnesota Wild of the '00s, defense-first, score only when the other goalie screws up.

Babcock really irritates me in this regard. Weiss had the reputation of a hard-working, reliable guy. Whatever his problems were, Babcock has hardly used him in the top six role that he's actually capable of playing. At the very list put him on an offensive third line. There is no reason Weiss should be sitting while Andersson plays.

Datsyuk coming back will be huge, and missing Kronwall and Cole is going to hurt. I'd say call up Marchenko instead of using Kindl.

Especially when Anderson's playing on the offensive third line. I can understand if the only spot open was on the fourth line and it was between Weiss and Anderson but it's not.
