Similar to the Kevin Hayes and Blake Wheeler situation.

Here's the low down on Hyman:

- 22yrs old

- 6'2" 195 lbs

- 2014-15 Hobey Finalist (Michigan)

"Hyman has above-average speed and is a smooth and shifty skater. He has good lateral quickness and excellent stability on his skates. Hyman has shown dramatic improvement in his defensive and physical play during his college career and plays a disciplined, hard hitting game in his own zone. He has become a quality possession player who takes a lot of defensive zone starts and converts them into up-ice pressure." - Hockeys Future

He's one of the leading scorers in college hockey with 54 pts in 37 games, 22 of those being goals. Now the interesting thing is that he plays alongside Dylan Larkin. Clearly there is some great chemistry between the two of them because Hyman had never put up more than 17 pts in his previous 3 seasons before Larkin became his centerman. Hopefully that can be an aspect that the Wings can use to there advantage to lure him.

Anyone know anything more about this kid? Other than his Dad, not looking to go down that road for obvious reasons.

I know he sucked until Dylan Larkin made him look super duper good. Screw this kid, he's trying to cash in on one good season that a rookie center gifted him.

Very possible. But it is also possible he does not want to play for the Panthers, which is his right, technically.

Many people had the same reaction of "screw him" with Wheeler and Hayes though. Both of those guys have turned out pretty well for the Bruins/Jets and Rangers.

And let's say Larkin is the straw that stirs his drink. Hypthetically, would that bother you if they were able to display the same chemistry with the Wings? Highly doubtful.

I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or not but I'm assuming it is since it was usually Hyman that drove the play for that line.

I am all for the Wings collecting as many young talented kids as they can. If these guys DO have that Hull and Oates type chemistry, it would make tons of sense that he would want to become a FA and sign to play with Larkin. I hear Larkin is thinking about signing a contrat instead of returning to Michigan next season. That would put both of them together for the next step of their career's. I am only guessing that Hyman is doing this to play with Larkin, he may just not want to play with Florida. But I would be very excited to have both of those kids in our organization, along with the talent that is already there. Larkin, Mantha, AA, Pulkkinen (I know I am missing someone) and then add Hyman to that group...future gets even brighter!

You obviously never watched him play and only looking at stats...

He is a very good player, with upside. Nothing wrong with going after him especially since it won't cost anything.
