Good logic, Babs. Let's stick with the guy that just lost the team the most important game of the season.

Babcock is more about individual performance than team performance. He's probably focusing on developing Mrazek as a player, giving him a chance to bounce back and face adversity, etc. he's done this with several players over the years and it hasn't usually been pretty.

As I said in another thread, when Zetterberg plays like crap, people always blame it on his back injury. When he plays well, the back is miraculously cured.

He has too much immunity here. He's playing uninspired and doing a poor job of leading by example.

He's a red wings captain, we haven't had a captain who wasn't one of the best in the game since yzermans knees turned him into a 3rd liner.

Even when Lidström was playing "poorly" he was still one of, if not, THE best defenseman in the game.

And I don't like bad mouthing the captain, because he has earned that much respect, but he still is in charge of getting this team together, and he's not doing that right now.

I don't think this loss is on Mrazek. Sure, third goal is a stinker, but he saved our asses many times before that happend. He was also hung out dry at least at the first goal, arguably at the second too.

1st and 2nd period tells me this is all about confidence. We need to find a way to rebuild it. Great teams are made by situations like these. Guess we will find out if the Wings are pretty soon.

He should have had the 3rd goal but the wings really could have been down 2-0 by the time they got their 1st.

And put in the guy who has done the exact same? Might as well see what you have in Mrazek so you can make a decision in the offseason. Team isn't doing any damage this post season anyways.

He's done the exact same but with 5 games left it seems like the best thing is to get your starter going and hope he finds his game, rather than relying on a 23 year old who hasn't shown consistency in the NHL yet.

I like Mrazek, but the kid is showing he's not ready yet.

Or the guy that was the Wings best player before getting injured? Mrazek is an inconsistent rookie -- we have already seen that.

And Howard is an inconsistent veteran. I honestly don't care who plays, I don't either one stepping up, nor do I see a team in front of them who gives a s*** about winning. It's ******* embarassing.

Mrazek played, dare I say, average, tonight? He did not "stand on his head" or play out of his mind or keep us in the game. He made some saves, and let in some soft goals. I'm not seeing where anyone thinks this is a significant upgrade over Howard.

Helene St. James was right the first time. No correction needed... or did Rask have a laser pointer directed at Mrazek's eyes and that's why he shat himself and let in that pathetically weak goal to lose the game?

Ya of course we could have... But it's not like we didn't have chances before we got the first one. We dominated the first and second. You can always say well we could have been down 2-0. The fact is that goalies get paid to play too and they are supposed to stop the puck

No one's arguing that. But it's far too easy and wrong to blame this whole blow up on Mrazek. Especially after the over-overloading of our defense at the first goal. I'd say Mrazek still had a decent third. Our D not so much.

Given how crappily the Wings lost that game, I have to say I'm surprised how mellow it is here in the GDT. Everyone being pretty civil.

The Wings are melting down more than this forum right now. It's eery.

Has our spirit been broken?

(and no, I'm not saying people should start acting out and personally attacking each other)

No I'm not saying its all on mrazek, but this team constantly has goalies letting in softys every game. We lose the goaltending battle way too many times. Somethings gotta change. I'd think about calling up marchenko as well, hopefully pav and cole are back sat or we lose again

We probably just got used to it. :P Which tells more about the state of the team right now than anything else.....

From here on out, Detroit plays:

Minnesota

Washington

Carolina

Montreal

Carolina

While the Senators play:

Washington

Toronto

Pittsburgh

NY Rangers

Philadelphia

They have a harder schedule. We have the weight of 24 years of history motivating us to step up. And we have three points in hand. Detroit will make the playoffs.
