I love our DJ. He's very creative, especially with our goal songs and goal songs that go along with the player that just scored. Thank God we are not the Hawks and that awful hooker song that they play after each and every goal *puke*.

Ok so he's playing for an audience of one then.

He plays the theme song from FRIENDS. Unacceptable.

And we don't have a goal song...

Last game I went to (vs Oilers back in March) was a lot of fun and the crowd was really into it. Not sure what more you could want. At least we don't have that awful cannon like Columbus.

While at a game in Columbus a few years ago, a young boy, 5ish I'm guessing, starting bawling everytime the cannon went off. It was terribly sad.

Having been to three of the last five home games, I beg to differ.

I've been there too. Versus Ottawa, NYR recently.

Have you ever been to other arenas?

Chicago, Toronto, Carolina, and Nashville are all way louder. More entertaining.

Clearly you've never been to Pittsburgh, Montreal, Florida, or Dallas. All way louder. More loudening.

I have been praying for this topic to come up. OK, first off you all know I'm a huge Red Wings and hockey fan, I love my college and pro football. I also however have come to really love soccer. Before you fly off the handle and say "Oh God not another soccer article" please keep an open mind on this write up. It's about how soccer might be the last sport to treat fans like adults:

"Dude, this TV timeout is taking FOREVER," is a phrase uttered by nobody at Sun Life Stadium during the finals of the Guinness International Champions Cup because there weren't any.

"How many timeouts is this coach going to call? Just play the damn game!" is a complaint shouted by zero people.

"This instant replay review is longer than Man of Steel. We all know it's a first down. Let's go!" was not thought by a single fan in the stadium.

"If the manager changes pitchers again, or visits the mound for a conference call longer than my dentist appointment, I'm going to let Cliff Lee throw a fastball into my groin just to see an actual pitch," is a feeling that nobody watching Chelsea versus Real Madrid had.

I'm not advocating you start watching soccer. I realize for many they just aren't fans of the game and that's cool BUT BUT BUT they do seem able to not always have a coffee cup racing a bagel, or a group of people in a plastic hamster ball trying to get from point A to point B, or a kiss cam or The Pepsi Fan cam of the night, here it's time for the Devils Dancers, etc.

So read the article and realize just how much crap is being forced into your eyes and ears during any and all timeouts of the other sports.

I agree with you. I despise commercials during sporting events, especially football. Basketball is annoying too, having the last 5 minutes of the game take 30 minutes to finish with all the timeouts. They should limit timeouts to 3 per half.

Hockey is great, because commercials only take about a minute and a half and the break between whistles. takes 20 seconds or so.

Predictably, Americans shun soccer and hockey in favor of watching sports where there's lots of delays and timeouts. Probably gives them more time to stuff their faces and take s***s.

Things that should stay:

Matter of Trust Billy Joel after 4 goals scored.

Piano Man Bilyl Joel "9 o'clock on a Saturday" on Saturday night games.

Goal horn.

Things that can go:

Muse Uprising after the other team scores.

Don't Stop Believin' Journey (song needs to die, further..South Detroit is Windsor, Ontario)

Things that shouldn't happen:

Individual goal song

All being said, I'll miss the Joe when it goes. I envsion they will have some sort of rebranding with the new arena, but keep some things the same.

Oh first off, thanks for contributing.

Likewise, will definitely miss the Joe.

But playing songs like individual goal songs or the theme from Friends isn't good enough haha.

For the love of the gods they need to stop playing I'm Shipping Up To Boston. If they want to be clever when the next game happens to be in Boston, then fine. Otherwise stop it with this.
