Not a fan of Howard bashing, but Mrazek should start the playoffs

I don't think so. Just can't figure Howard out. He made some BRILLIANT saves early on & we could of easily been down a couple of goals. But then, he just seems to lose focus & s*** happens. As most would agree, Mrazek hasn't looked any better. If you don't start Howie, and start the kid instead in the playoffs, he is done. There is no coming back from that. Like it or not, Howard's our starter. The best of a bad situation

Seriously, people, can we have a little perspective? We lost a game, in overtime, to one of the best teams in the NHL, despite outplaying that team for the majority of the game. And that point continues a playoff streak that goes back to when, like, half our team wasn't even born yet. There are teams in today's NHL that didn't exist when we were making the playoffs every year.

The goal of the regular season is to make the playoffs. Period. There is no extra credit for finishing higher in the standings or with bogus "momentum." You don't get an extra game or two head start in your first series. Once you're in, everyone is on even ground and anything can happen. We accomplished our ONLY goal for this regular season. Cherish that. And buckle up because I think the Wings can surprise some people, goaltending notwithstanding.

I just imagine the forum members that are all negative as people like Greedo or the guy who got the death sentence on 12 systems.

At least the positive forum members here don't end up dead. They just walk out like Han Solo did after shooting Greedo. Usually headed off to greener pastures.

This is part of the reason why I went elsewhere. This place really has turned into Mos Eisley Spaceport of Wings fans.

It's one thing if the Wings were a fringe playoff team all season, but they were'nt. They were challenging for the Conference. Then the past month and a half they became a disaster. It's to be expected that fans will feel this way.

It's hard to be excited when, in a game where it was all on the line, the whole team played great but still managed to lose at the hands of our goaltending. I don't think there's much more this team can do in a playoff series. Same thing happened against Boston

There are more positive things being said about the Wings in opposing teams' subreddits. I love this forum, I think there are a lot of intelligent people and the moderation is on point but lately, it's been so negative. Do you guys realize that we at currently complaining that we don't like the WAY that our team clinched for the 24th year in a row? That's ridiculous and entitled and spoiled. This team is not "average at best" they are better than average as proven by their record this year. I have not been alive long enough to see them miss the playoffs. Think about that and then put yourselves in the shoes of literally ever other team and try to imagine behaving the same way as you are now.

It is 100% understandable to be critical of aspects of the team play, but to claim the sky is falling after every loss or bad goal is completely absurd. I'm sorry, I love you guys but it's disheartening to see so many "fans" express more hatred toward their own players than they do to the Hawks. We're better than this.

I get what you're saying. But you're up by one on a ridiculously sweet SHG. You take one bad penalty, then have a total brain fart on the bench by Smith. Howard lets in 2 soft goals. Montreal was not on top of their game tonight. Three goals on Price and numerous close calls. Then you have to sit and hope the ******* Florida Panthers win. I'm sure I'll appreciate it later, but right now, doesn't feel like an accomplishment to lose our way in.

I am very happy and relieved and proud of DRW for making the playoffs for 24 straight seasons. It's an amazing accomplishment.

I also can do without the extreme negativity, never fun.

But I disagree with a sentiment of, "Hey let's be happy we're in, this team is still great!" Yes they are, but they have faltered after looking extremely promising at several points during this season. Further, expectations are reasonably high for this franchise. I believe it is understandable to be disappointed with this team. We invest so much as fans and sure, these runs to the playoffs are great, but it is not baseless to be somewhat disappointed.

All being said, love this team til I die and here's to an improbable playoff run. Cheers!

The Canadiens have an easier road to the top of the Atlantic, so depending on how the last game plays out for Detroit and Ottawa, it will likely be Detroit and Tampa in the first round. MTL swept them last year, so maybe they aren't as good in the playoffs? Granted they didn't have Bishop or seemingly unlimited rookies with 50+ points each.

Three things:

Jimmy is honest and admitted (post-game) that he cheated on the GWG and he owned it - made me think very highly of him, not that I thought he played badly. He denied that it hit anyone, just said he should have had it.

Smith should be packing up smelly hockey gear, loading the bus, and apologizing profusely to everyone else on the team for a long time to come.

Pavel Datsyuk is the most amazing player in the NHL. He is the man, playing in pain, and still better than the majority of other players on the ice.

On to Carolina and a solid win, dear Wings. I pray one day you will make the playoffs without costing me more grey hairs and all of my remaining fingernails. But, I will take it!

I'd rather play a tight checked, low scoring series against Montreal than lose by 4-5 goals every night to Tampa.
