I wasn't able to watch the game tonight. But can someone explain what exactly Smith did to take a penalty? Played the puck with his glove somehow while on the bench??

I guess he should've used his stick. Clowe did that from the bench to break up an odd man rush against the Kings in 2012 and there was no penalty called.

Yeah....that's what got me on this track. I was also looking at his mask to see if it was new. The soft goals have just been atrocious. Maybe he's been hanging out with Cleary a lot and has gotten "foggy glass" eyes.

I wear contacts and they don't bother me when I play goal. Have'nt played in a couple years, but yeah. Obv they have to be the right prescription, and don't wear the same pair longer than a few months, never sleep in them(breathable night and day brands are bulls***). Other than that, just gotta make sure to keep them wet and clean with eye drops at breaks in the game, etc. Should'nt be any problem. Quite a few NHLers wear contacts.

Pretty much the same idea, he batted the puck out of the air while it was in play. Montreal was on a powerplay which cause a 5 on 3 which they scored on immediately. Then they just zoomed in on his big dumb face for what seemed like an eternity

Yeah, puck popped up and smith clearly stuck his hand out while sitting on the bench to glove it to the ice. Resulted in 5 on 3..Habs scored.

Good lord. I always feared smith may just not have it between the ears, but I never thought he was as stupid as Clowe.

(I'm still annoyed Clowe didn't get a penalty or fined for that)

I just prefer to discuss hockey and the red Wings in a more constructive light with members who know what they are talking about. This forum, sadly, has jumped the shark.

Well I'm honored to be basking in your omnipotent knowledge of the game :sarcasm:

What is it with you guys?

I agree that playing the game can help people learn and understand it and it probably is the best way to do it. But it's not unimaginable that somebody could learn and understand it from watching it. In fact, professional athletes do this as well all the time. It's called film study!

You don't have to have played past Juniors to know bad positioning or poor outlet passes or tipped goals ect...Get over yourselves.

I thought of Clowe too. Or Thornton, squirting water from the bench.

The craziest part about the Clowe play is the Kings were fighting for a playoff spot, he reached over with his stick and broke up an odd man rush. Had they called a penalty I think it would've been a 5 on 3 for the Kings.

I could never understand how all the officials on the ice somehow missed him reaching over and breaking up the play. You'd think the officials would be watching the puck.

The water thing was unbelievable too. Since it was Thornton the general attitude seemed to be it was all in good fun. I can't imagine the s***storm had it been Subban squirting Thornton from the bench.

If this were 7 years ago and he weren't married, the strip joints here in Calgary would be jumpin tonight.

I remember visiting a friend in Calgary for two months right during their run to the finals in 2004. 17th Ave. was insane. hahaha

Hudler just finished off the Kings with the empty net goal.

LOL

Agreed. Heaven forbid P.K. Subban even have fun after the game. Let alone during it. If he'd squirted Thornton, the Beantown faithful would have been dusting off their hoods.

Out of curiosity I went back and looked at Ozzie's stats heading into the 2007-08 playoffs and the 2008-09 playoffs. Of course we know what happened in 2008 and 2009.

07-08 G43. W27 L9 GAA 2.09 save %.914 (Ranked #1)

08-09 W26 L7 GAA 3.09save %.887 (Ranked 40th)
