I am really impressed with how Mike Yeo has turned the Wild around. I did not believe they had it in them to even make the playoff this season given how buried they were in the standings at one point.

Poor St. Louis Blues. They just never win anything. :P

Maybe just maybe Backes, Reaves will become available now.

But I'm absolutely shocked the Blues should be a team that's made for the playoffs they have the size, grit and physicality but once again goaltending has let them down. May have been the last game for Ken Hitchcock as a Blues coach.

*sigh*

Just goes to show you that size, grit, and physicality aren't the be-all and end-all of playoff hockey. Sometimes speed and puck movement and scoring are, you know, sort of important and stuff.

The Blues were so slow today it was almost disgraceful. And Allen was terrible. There's your series in a nutshell.

Yeo is a hellu lucky guy ... landed on the 2nd coming of Dubnyk.

Remember he had that meltdown expletive filled video of dumping on his players? He was losing it and if the team continued in that trend, Yeo would have been fired.

Normally I would go for St. Louis as I dont like Minny. But I want to see Dubnyk make some noise in the playoffs.

I pick Minny in 7. I dont see Elliot/Allen stepping up in the playoffs.

meh, I was 1 game off.

Their problem is they need more leaders who know what it takes to win the Cup. Some vets with Cup experience would help them a long way. They have no obvious weaknesses on paper. You can blame the goalie, but the Blues have gone through so many goalies over the years that you can't keep blaming goaltending for everything.

Instead, their only vets are guys that know what it's like to lose in the playoffs like Jackman and Backes.

You cant just blame the goaltending. The scores in the 4 games St.Louis lost were 4-2, 3-0, 4-1, 4-1. Getting 4 goals in 4 games is not going to get you the win.

St.Louis lost as a team. Goaltending may have let them down, but so did the rest of the team.

Yeah they could really need a veteran who has been there done that. On paper this team should at least make it to the conference finals in a year, where the best team in the West hasn't made the playoffs (= LA Kings). Allen is only 23 old so I'm not blaming him, could he have been better ? For sure but that goes for all the team and sadly Backes, Steen didn't show much against the Wild in this series.

I think Armstrong will try to build another core around Pietrangelo, Tarasenko, Schwartz and maybe trade one of their big guns man if Backes would become available that would be just awesome. He is exactly what this team needs, big tough powerforward who will create space for smaller forwards.
