Wow. I can't believe he didn't get a fine for threatening retribution. He even starts his threat by asking if he should take the fine.

It's good theater, I'll give him that. His team was pretty massively outplayed. If his comments spark them, then I'd pay the fine if I were the owner. But I really don't see it happening. It's certainly not to their advantage to be shorthanded for the remainder of the series. I get what he's trying to do, but I think he's going to have to really manage the team well in order for it to work. Playing completely undisciplined hockey now, and letting tempers flair, is completely opposite of what got them here in the first place.

There's really no need for further punishment for anybody involved. It was an egregious slash, and he got the maximum penalty allowed for an egregious slash. But fining the coach for being pissed off that his guy got slashed would have only made things worse.

I'd assume that for the remainder of the series, Subban won't get any leeway from the refs, and the Sens will get considerable leeway as they rough him up, hit him, face wash him, and generally try to make his life hell. Which is pretty much exactly what should happen. Suspensions for anyone would be overkill.

Seeing that they never do anything to Subban for his dirty play im glad they didn't do anything to the coach or the sens as a team.

Besides giving him a 5 minute major and tossing him out of a playoff game?

They've also fined him for tripping and diving in the past.

He's no angel but I don't put him up there with someone like Lucic who's run goaltenders and has repeatedly tried to shish kabob players yambags.

I would say yeah maybe not yet at the same level but to see how many times he has slashed, cross checked and slew footed just in the wings games without any kind of retribution it's time for him to get some. He is working himself up to pronger 2.0 =)

hahahaha Im dying here.

Ok so I have to ask this and you probably knew it was coming...What if it were the wings and he 2 handed dats or z the same way and put them out of the playoffs because of a broken hand/wrist. What would be saying right now? "oh the 5 min and the game was good enough" or would it be more like "oh he needs to die" hahaha

Pronger 2.0? How many times was Pronger suspended again?

Of course I'd be mad, but it was hardly the most vicious slash I've ever seen. 5 and a game was plenty, especially in the playoffs. And I'm sure it hurt Stone but he needs to toughen up. You'd think his hand was cut off with the way he flailed around.

I'm not even really a Subban fan. I used to dislike him, then saw CH24 and grew to like him more (or dislike him less) hearing him outside of the game. He's still immature but also gets more crap than he deserves.

What if someone ended a Red Wings career the way Abdelkader basically ended Lydman's with his charge a couple years ago?

What if someone suckerpunched Datsyuk the way Franzen has suckerpunched several players?

Its brutal. Not to sound like Don Cherry, but I miss the hockey that I grew up with. Subban would be made to answer for his cheapshots in the form of a fight. Nowadays these guys can het away with anything and that's why you see these insane slashes and hits from behind. There is no physical punishment to deter this garbage. It makes me sick. He's as big of an idiot as Subban for threatening both the league and the Habs, especially in the post Bertuzzi-incident NHL.

Let the players handle it on the ice.

Yeah I respect the gesture he just went about it the wrong way.

It's certainly drawn my attention to the series.

It was never a deterrent anyway, it still happened, otherwise you'd say, "I miss old time hockey when this never happened and there were never any fights because the threat of a fight was enough to stop cheap shots."

The pronger 2.0 was a joke. hence the smiley face after it.

Way to defect my question. There is no way you would "just be mad" if it happened to a wings player. No way. I know you too well Harold. At least I remember the old harold before he became mod =)

He broke his wrist. Let me take a hockey stick and slash your wrists hard enough to break them and see how you react.

The injured is hardly the right one to judge how long a sentence should be.

Camerons threats made handing out a suspension very unlikely. We also talk about a star like P.K. Subban being suspended for a slash during a playoff game for which he already was ejected in the game. No chance, and I also don't think his slash was worth a suspension. The game misconduct was the right call here. Talking about to punish the action, not the result.

He didn't break his wrist. He has a microfracture in one of the bones in his wrist. Micro, as in tiny.

And if you did I bet that to me I bet it would hurt like hell and I would fall to the ground, but I still probably wouldn't flail around like my hand got cut off. And I'm nowhere near as tough as most hockey players are that's for sure.

We're talking about hockey players here. He needs to grow a pair.

I didn't deflect anything. I answered it.

And since you've apparently decided how I feel about things, I'll let you continue both sides of the debate on your own.

I had a coach tell me never to go down if I get hurt in the upper body. Because that doesn't have anything to do with my skating ability.

The only time I stayed down was when I fractured my femur/tore a bunch of muscles/MCL, and I still tried to crawl off.

I was 14.

His flailing around was ridiculous.

hahaha ok. All I said was I know how you use to be Harold. You would of been right there pissing and moaning about a hit like that if it were against a wing. It's not like its a bad thing. That's what real passionate fans do. Not that other fans are bad or anything. Don't take your ball and go home. Not trying to argue with you or anything. Just trying to debate a little.

I got to ask...How do you know how it felt? Micro fractures from what I read can be awful. You get them in the knee and you could be out

4-6 months....so just because it's "micro" as you said it doesn't mean its a small injury.

I'm just saying I've seen guys take a puck to the face and roll around less than Stone did.

My guess is he plays next game after a miraculous and heroic recovery on his bone bruise.

Not taking my ball and going home. I stated my point and you didn't seem to believe me so I'm not sure where to go from there.

Like I said, if someone did that to Datsyuk or Zetterberg I'd be pissed. And I'd want someone on the Wings to handle it. But I don't think I'd be calling for some huge suspension.

T he Senators are not calling for a huge suspension, what they are calling for is simple:

1. either suspend him (didn't happen) or

2. if someone slashes/runs one of their starplayers give the Sen the same penalty and non suspension.

And that's why I'm awaiting game 2 it will be pure hatred, physical and I bet Neil will fight Prust (who is by far my favorite Hab) then go on to either destroy Subban or run Price. Take his 5 min + a game misconduct and the Habs will cry foul...

If someone did that to one of our players (I don't care if it's a star or someone else) I'd be pissed too but the difference is I wouldn't count on the league to do anything, this is hockey big boy sport so I'd rather see one our players handle that stuff on the ice. And even an aging Neil is still extremely good at his role the Habs are in for a surprise tonight.

Even if Neil doesn't do anything with Pacioretty coming back after a concussion people can bet the Senators will "check" whenever possible if is head is right. Btw. this is the same franchise that called the police after Chara checked Pacioretty hard into the boards but the injury was the result of their horrible misplaced rod.

It's easy for us to sit here and say a slash on an unprotected area doesn't hurt well I know this: NHL players have had broken wrists in protected areas because of slashes and as far as I'm concerned you can't fake a broken wrist.

The only thing were I'm agreeing with Subban is that threatening thing ... it's the playoffs and it's hockey threats, trash talk are part of the game. Ray Ferraro had a good piece on that on Leafs Lunch yesterday basically saying in the age of social media people want all the information but only a minority can handle it and most fans would be surprised on what has been said and done during back in the good old days.

It seems like we're agreeing on a few things.

I've said multiple times I'd be pissed but wouldn't expect the league to give a suspension. I'd want the Wings players to handle it.

But their coach was threatening the league and the Habs, basically saying if you don't suspend Subban then we're gonna do the same or worse and you better only give us 5 minutes. I still can't believe he wasn't fined. The league really let him off the hook on that one. And I've used the same childish logic growing up when I felt like my parents let my brother get away with something. It was pretty hilarious hearing it from a head coach.

Then calling it a "microfracture" as they continued to lobby the league, which is basically a bone bruise. But a microfracture sounds like something is broken, which it isn't. But it worked because media outlets started repeated "Stone has broken wrist," which isn't actually the case.

To be clear, I'm not a Habs fan. I can't believe some of the ridiculous things they've done as a team and fanbase (calling the cops on Chara is a good example). The Sens are proving themselves just as big of drama queens. This series should be fun to watch.
